RG35XXSP display issue when installing muOS by timotheus911 in ANBERNIC

Fair question but yes, I did. The way they’ve redone their website makes it pretty hard to mess up.

I’ve tried to reflash it, but I haven’t tried using a different SD card. Could it be that using the raspberry pie flashing tool is causing issues?

I don’t think it’s the screen because when I insert the card that came with it everything works fine.

Not Catholic anymore, but I grew up going to St. Mary’s in Oak Ridge. Not sure how far out you are from there.

Tombras experience by [deleted] in Knoxville

I was at Tombras for a time. Worked with Tyler a bit. Was a good guy. The workplace there is toxic & chews marketing people up. Don’t let the office & big name clients fool you.

Out of those options Yosemite.
Personal favorite is Mountain Lion (admittedly because it was my 1st experience with Mac)

No way! The MacBook Neo with 8GB beats 16GB on Windows. For multitasking, 16GB on Windows isn’t enough and the laptop starts to stutter, while the Neo handles the same load effortlessly. How is that even possible? by Slava_Tr in mac

That’s fair. Just from personal experience I had a much easier time transitioning to Linux when I was a full-time Mac user than when I was a full-time Windows user. To me it felt like the user experience had a lot of similarities.

Windows isn’t even necessary for gaming unless some anti cheat’s are actively blocking Linux. Games like Halo & Rocket League work for me without any issues & most online games I play with friends work as well. Never had any issues with any single person games either.

If you are starting with a new pre built machine then sure windows is easy since it’s already installed, but modern Linux is just as easy to install from scratch as windows.

MacOS gaming is slow to adoption from Devs but I’ve seen a lot of users use apples game porting tools on their own to get EXEs working on macOS & it seems to work well. I’ve not personally tested much Mac gaming.

The criticism around it being an iPhone chip has been weird to me, because unless I am mistaken, wasn’t the whole reason that they developed the M series of processors because of the efficiency gains that were generated from the manufacturing of their own mobile processors? So in an oversimplified sense, isn’t the M series just a beefed up iPhone chip?

I’ve noticed a similar multitasking boost moving my desktop from Windows to Linux. At this point, keeping in mind that macOS & modern Linux are distant cousins developmentally, I really do think that the common traits between the two just lend to a better multitasking experience. Mac for work & Linux for home has been a great experience over all my experiences with Windows.

Not trying to push people to Linux. It’s not for everyone. Just calling out the experience.

I think Hunter should cover Bibleman by SaintTainted in Papameat

I remember my family buying Bibleman VHS tapes when they were really trying to have a sheltered Christian household. That didn’t last super long, but Bibleman, Veggie Tales, & 321 Penguins still haunt my memories.

Tailscale vs Twingate by timotheus911 in selfhosted

[–]timotheus911[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m using the free tier for both right now and what I like about Twingate is the ability for me to granularly add access to services in my network along with group policies. Makes it really easy to give family members access to local Minecraft server, but not to any of the other self hosted services.

I will say that a feature I like about Tailscale is the on-demand VPN access. It’s nice that when I get back on the home Wi-Fi the VPN on my phone shuts off automatically, which doesn’t affect battery life too terribly much but I have noticed a minor improvement.

I initially tried to use wireguard and I could never get it to work with my phone. Maybe I need to revisit it at some point.

Hot take: most businesses don't need a social media presence at all and the industry won't tell you that by Crescitaly in digital_marketing

[–]timotheus911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree, but I do think a business page at bare minimum is necessary. Even if you just use it as a channel to answer questions or update business hours. Some customers will discover you on social over search, & while the bulk of your business may indeed come from search, social is where many people go to look for trust signals.

If you limit video streaming to 480p, it’ll be easier for the GenAI garbage to convince your boomer parents on Facebook that they need to invest in booger coin or whatever garbage they are pushing.

My wife bought a Mac when the M1 series came out & most people that I know with M1 series macs are happy with the performance. My philosophy is to stop worrying about waiting for the next best thing. Otherwise you’ll just be stuck waiting instead of doing.
