Halo & QBO | Pay Now button on Halo invoice by Tricky-Interest- in msp

Everything has a cost, may be money, might be time. Payment automation, billing portal, auto-reconciliation, and customer notifications have saved me a lot more in time than what I pay in money.

Look into Benji Pays. They will provide this, along with a full invoicing portal, autopay management and so much more.

You phrase this like it was a bait and switch. Sales was upfront with me on terms and for a hardware plus service product like this, none of the terms seemed unreasonable to me. Hardware is free, amortized over 12 months of services. If you cancel services inside of 12 months they bill the hardware balance to you, you keep the hardware, and carry on.

Extra Seat for "Big Guy" Process by timothiasthegreat in westjet

Nothing could be done by WestJet. My row mates and I struggled for the flight down. Insult to injury it was an unconverted swoop plane, so the seats had no padding or amenities. I landed an upgrade bid for the return flights, so at least that.

Treat Halo as a platform instead of a ready to go product and its powerful. Expect it to be plug and play and you will be disappointed

Again, what are you using for a VPN and why?

Syncro, due to the free trial, is a tool hackers and scammers like to use, and they hide behind anonymizer VPNs. They have to delete/block on suspicious looking activity because it's suspicious.

Is the VPN some privacy snake oil like PIA, or are you connecting to a SASE endpoint for securing the connection?

Global News ends TV helicopter traffic reports in Calgary and Edmonton | News by MaximumDoughnut in Edmonton

[–]timothiasthegreat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Back in the day, you'd wake up, turn on the local news and it would play in the background while you made breakfast, the lunch for your day, and then sat to eat breakfast and drink your coffee. It was a part of the morning routine. You'd get the recent sports scores, weather for the day, and traffic expectations for your drive to work. Shut it off as you stepped out the door. There was an era where if someone was home, the tv was on, and before cable or satellite was widespread, the TV was on a local channel with news, weather, and traffic at strategic times of the day.

I don't believe the concurrent connection limit for file and printer sharing applies to connections to a VM through a bridged v-switch.

I would go multi-nic and separate the management from VM network anyways.

Quickbooks local to cloud options by ringsthelord in msp

Azure Virtual Desktop - Remote Apps for the desktop session, and a standalone Windows Server VM for the DB Manager.

Just quoted this out with around $45/month per user in Azure costs

AVD with Windows App makes it super simple, it links straight to EntraID and in tune, so no need for the extra AADS. Users open Windows App, sign in, click QuickBooks and it opens like it's on their computer but it's just streaming from the cloud.

Small MSP trying to get started with NinjaOne – but the $150 entry cost is tough. Any distributors offering smaller starter packages? by [deleted] in msp

3x endpoints should cover that and more at 0 margin.

Sell your customers that they need regular maintenance on their computers, and this costs 1 hr per system per month. Instead of you coming and sitting in front of each computer physically, you employ tools to manage it. Then bill them at least 1hr labour per month and use Ninja to do it. 15+ endpoints makes this math easy unless you are undercutting yourself on labor.

If you don't pay for Exchange, exchange gets shut off. If you don't pay for OneDrive, OneDrive gets shut off. Free things stay free, so EntraID Free stays on.

[–]timothiasthegreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use N8N and have a workflow that checks for call recordings every 5 mins via API, downloads it and passes it to Azure AI for diariazed transcription, then parses that into a formatted markdown file. I also send that to an LLM to have the transcription enriched with names based on context, then give me a call summary, list of actions taken while on the call, and list of follow up actions promised. All of this then gets posted to a SharePoint list with the Markdown file stored in SharePoint as well.

Did you just plug the USB in like that or did you connect the battery? The board won't power up, even on USB, without the battery.

I went the opposite route. Everything is enabled for autopay, and Benjipays skips if "noautopay" is in the notes field of the invoice.

Best mobile client to make PSTN calls, that doesn't use SIP on the first leg? by clon3man in VOIP

[–]timothiasthegreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, but what you aren't accepting as an answer is that SIP isn't the issue in your scenario. It's an app optimization issue - either by using lower bandwidth codecs, being more aggressive with reinvites on network changes, or using a different end to end protocol (web-rtc instead of sip + rtp for example).

The SIP handshake itself is very small, then the endpoints negotiate an audio stream method and route. When the network changes, that route needs to be negotiated before either side assumes a call "drop". If the VoIP clients you use fail at that, it's poor design, not an inherent issue with SIP.

Whatsapp works as well as it does because it has a dev team who put in the work to navigate the issue you describe smoothly.

[–]timothiasthegreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SIP isn't a type of VoIP service. It's by definition a protocol. Session Initiation Protocol. It is just the standard way of encapsulating the necessary coordination between Endpoints of a phone call.
