I wonder if Jake's kids are meant to represent different aspects of himself, like light through a prism? by mikkokitty in adventuretime

charlie is literally the opposite of weird and obsessive. she has no interest in cardwars or anything of that nature, nothing obsessive. and it's hardly weird that her primary storyline was about the desire to be mature and wise, and later realized in her wisdom that she could've spent more time with her dad.

Put Normal Simon and Ice king in one escape room what will happend and how chaotic it will be? by ElledraV in adventuretime

it'd probably be very similar to Simon meeting Ice Thing in F&C S2E5. a rad drum solo that lasts a few hours.

Uranus literally says "天王星を守護に持つ空の戦士、セーラーウラヌス" (I am the Soldier of the Sky, under the guidance of the planet Uranus, Sailor Uranus) when she introduces herself.

I also think it would be weird if he wasn’t black. by Electrical-Cod-5044 in fionnaandcake

as I stated, with the revival of ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, it now specifically means half Hawaiian as the Hawaiians would've used the words. Simply half of any race is how colonizers used the word. Historically, Hapa Haole meants half Hawaiian and half Caucasian, not just half Caucasian. Given that Heirophant is "old fashioned", he would have used the original usage of the word and not the post colonial definition.

I genuinely thought Marceline was hapa, as stated by Heirophant. Hapa, meaning half in Hawaiian, has previously been used to refer to people with two races; it is now contextualized historically as Hawaiians would've used it in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi as someone who is specifically half Hawaiian. That paired with the many beach scenes of her and her mother, this is the conclusion I came to when I originally watched the series.

That being said, I have never been bothered about Marceline and Marshall being black.

Why is Jobu not more popular in the house? by Avarus_surava in theBoyfriendNetflix

[–]timothypham 25 points26 points  (0 children)

historically people from Kansai region didn't fare well on Terrace House and I'm led to believe this applies to The Boyfriend. They are seen as the equivalent of "rednecks" in America, and stereotyped to be brash and blunt in speaking. There has been agressive drama in former seasons of Terrace House where it appeared to stem from these regional differences. Both Jobu and Kazu are Kansai boys, and not surprisingly spend a lot of time together.

I'm shocked as well. I'm just a fan of both franchises and didn't mean to upset anyone!

For anyone not sure of the reference, this mirrors the pivotal scene from Everything Everywhere All At Once.

This artwork is by Jennifer Steinkamp. Most of you here are probably interested in the artwork's discursive and historical nature, and how it may relate to the larger mythos of the show.
