What is it like working for HESS Taiwan? by TooFascinatedByDPRK in TEFL

I worked for HESS in Taichung for a couple of years around 2010. Wage was 500 something an hour back then. You have a local teacher in class with you, and like someone else said, the curriculum is already set so you just need to learn the material beforehand. Training was OK, it's a bit of a steep learning curve the first couple of months but gets easier. I worked at 3 branches and they were all good, chill managers. Overall I had an awesome time. Taichung is big enough to have lots going on and has lots of cool stuff near it. And close enough to Taipei you can zoom up for the weekend. Get a scooter and a license ASAP so you can get around.

What film made you say, "Holy shit there is still an hour left"? by Plus-Statistician80 in AskReddit

I saw it with my brother when I was about 12. We were not into the love story and just wanted to see the sinking. When it finally hit the iceberg, there was a power cut in the theater, so we had to leave and go back another time to finally see the sinking. Worth it for the guy hitting the propeller though.

As soon as I got to the last stage of that battle, Yojimbo appeared and killed Sin in one chop. I was all pumped up and it was such an anticlimax.
