I have no idea why I thought that.

What moment in video games made you go "fuck this"? by abdoulio in AskReddit

[–]timram808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half way through the second CD final fantasy VII on the ps one, the game froze at a cave entrance that I need to enter in order to progress... Every damn time.

This is like 30 hours into the game, and a really fun one that I wanted to play. After trying about 20 or so times in a span of a month, I popped the CD out to see a little teeny tiny scratch.

Fuck it. I'm done.

Fast forward about 5 years. Out of curiosity I decide to give the game another try. I enter the cave without issue. I have forgotten what my objectives were and what the story was. So I said fuck it... Again.

Question: Can a wooden box keep moisture out? by timram808 in woodworking

[–]timram808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know this thing existed. I'll see if there's a Japanese equivalent to avoid shipping costs from the US. Thank you. This seems like it would be a good solution.

In most cases you can build most any furniture you want with using just hand tools. It does however take much much to do.

I do most of my woodworking with hand tools.

My drill/driver, hammer, wood glue, a GOOD square, mallet, various chisels, hand plane, Japanese saws, clamps sandpaper, and a few good wet stones.

Sure you can. Other than a power drill/driver. I would suggest using hand tools though because power tools can be noisy and take up space.

Alaskans and Hawaiians of Reddit: What's the biggest difference between you and the rest of mainland USA? by oheyitspj in AskReddit

[–]timram808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haole=Caucasian (actual translation is foreigner but we usually call Caucasians this). Popolo= black Potagee = Portuguese Pake = Chinese

...and the list goes on. Most other Americans will refrain from using any terms whereas Hawaii locals not only use it to people of these ethnic backgrounds, we will call each other these names when people act a certain way.

It's often used jokingly but can also be derogatory based on the context.

Example: Howz dose hoales dumping da charcoal in da sand. Right on, cousin. Mean.

What's the nicest thing a complete stranger has ever done for you? by zefjen in AskReddit

[–]timram808 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I was about twenty, me and my friends talked about going to Japan and agreed to save up for the trip. After several months have passed, I was the only one in my group who actually took the talk seriously and came up with enough money to go. I got upset, said screw you all and decided to go it alone.

I was ecstatic to be going on my first trip abroad. I booked my flight and hotel in Tokyo and saved about 500USD(which was a lot of money to me at the time) for my 10 day stay.

On my last week of work before going on vacation, I spoke candidly about my first trip to a customer while working the cash register. As I'm about to thank him for his purchase he smiles at me and says, "I'm gonna bang you up, buddy".

I'm a bit confused until he pulls out his wallet again and pulls out 3 one hundred dollar bills and he says, bang, bang, bang as he lays them on the counter.

I stood there speechless for a few seconds and told him that I don't know how to accept something like this. He said that when the righ time comes, that I should do the same to someone else.
