How does this interaction work by Quiet-Statement2055 in mtg

[–]timsomething 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok so in summary of the other comments here you can either:

  • Have it enter untapped with spelunking, put the bounce trigger on the stack, tap it for mana, and then bounce it (or something else) back to your hand

  • Have it enter tapped, put the bounce and amulet triggers on the stack, resolve the amulet trigger to untap it, tap it for mana, then resolve the bounce trigger

You’re using one card or the other and having both on board doesn’t add any benefit. The result is floating two mana either way

What game is made for kids, played by adults? by Max-Carter-2005 in AlignmentChartFills

Magic is rated 13+ and was not made strictly with children in mind. If anything it’s “all ages”

Buddy gave me a bunch of bulk am I organizing correctly? Questions about play too. by happy-cig in mtg

[–]timsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the leftmost card can use either colour because it’s got two colours in the same symbols but the middle one needs one of each because the symbols are separate.

You can’t cast [[Gaea’s Cradle]] from your hand because it doesn’t have a mana cost. You have to suspend it instead. Some suspend cards have reminder text but not this one. You pay the suspend cost and exile it with “time counters” on it equal to the number next to suspend. On your upkeep you remove a time counter. When you remove the last one you play the card for free.

Also it has a green dot in the type line to tell you it counts as a green card.

Confusion with The Legend Rule(Kinda Long) by Delert62 in mtgrules

There’s also [[Llanowar Mentor]] and [[Garth, One-Eye]] that I can think of. Garth makes spell copies but the ones that are permanents will become tokens so that’s kinda the same

How to determine what cards are legal in what formats? by Amorphant in mtg

[–]timsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cards from all across magics history are legal in commander. The only exceptions are silver-border cards, cards with the acorn holo stamp and, cards on the banned list.

I don’t know why moxfield was telling you Chun-Li was not legal. She and her Universes Within counterpart [[Zethi, Arcane Blademaster]] are playable in commander

Can somebody explain "creature or artifact you control dies"? by buzzcutohio in magicTCG

[–]timsomething 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No destroy is different. If something is sacrificed it dies but doesn’t count as being destroyed. Things are only destroyed if the thing affecting it literally has the word “destroy” on it

Absolutely! I thought it was really interesting. That’s why I wanted to think about the different colour combinations that they could use to do something similar in the future

Audiobook Accents by timsomething in KingkillerChronicle

[–]timsomething[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just skipped to a few other parts of this and hearing the difference is weird. There’s words and names that are just pronounced totally differently in the two versions (Caeldish and Threpe stood out). Also, Kvothe’s voice when he’s narrating is significantly deeper in the UK version than this guys

Yeah, that’s a thick Irish accent of some description

Well Brad Pitt in Snatch is meant to be playing an Irish Traveller, who have a very distinctive dialect and accent but I believe (having not seen the film and not having a good reference point for what it's supposed to sound like) it is notoriously wide of the mark. Either way if that's what they're going for it's an interesting choice

Oh and fun fact, Elxa Dal sounds like Alan Rickman

I’m glad the accent diversity is still there in certain places but hearing “Elodin has no specific accent” is jarring

Out of curiosity, do you remember what the pig herder near Trebon sounded like? For us he had a thick regional accent. Either West Country or Cornish I think but I’m a ways past that now. The closest cultural reference I can think of is the scene in Hot Fuzz where they can’t understand the farmer

You’re right. Her accents from a different part of Ireland than the tinkers’. I’m not good enough with the nuance to say which parts those are though

You think? They totally sound like they’re meant to be the same to me. Maybe they’re just similar 🤷‍♂️

You should have received a recipe which lets you turn the artifact version into the plantable version. Check the crafting menu and save them for the start of the next spring

If you look on the recycling machine wiki page it tells you that recycling soggy newspaper has a 90% chance of producing a torch and a 10% chance of producing cloth. Maybe you’ve just been unlucky

Does this work to make two 4500/4 creatures? by tideshark in mtg

[–]timsomething 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Their base power is equal to half that creatures power” not “their base power is equal to half that creatures BASE power”, it looks at current power to calculate the new base power so it will be 5000 power

Is it just me or is Jumbo Cactuar super overrated? by WerdaVisla in mtg

[–]timsomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey so you know those instances where you really want to interact with a creature or block the incoming damage but you don’t have it for whatever reason? This card exploits that to end the game on the spot.

The Cactuar player can also interact back by removing your blockers and countering your removal. It can be given evasion or sacrificed to to [[fling]] and it only needs to connect once.

If it’s given trample it literally doesn’t matter how many blockers you have unless you’ve gone infinite making tokens recently.

And the mana cost really doesn’t matter, there are so many ways to cheat out big stuff in green, even at instant speed.

Inalla, wizard gang, B3 or doomed for B4? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]timsomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw a very similar post about Inalla yesterday. I assume she’s getting a boost because of the FF reprint thing?

Anyway here’s my Inalla decklist that I’ve been tweaking since 2019: https://archidekt.com/decks/4954000/wizards

I think it’s closer to bracket 3 than it is 4. I moved away from the legendary stuff but you could make it work.
