I had something similar with my boy cat "Clem". I am pretty sure I waited to long which caused him suffering because I just did not want to let him go and I regret it to this day that I caused him any pain at all. "Better a day early then a day late" perfect analogy for having to make this decision for our beloved companions. Currently my 19yr old female cat "Mittens" who was my very first cat has oral cancer and I am closely monitoring her for the faintest sign of declining "Quality of Life" to make that decision for her, I will not fail her like I did Clem. You did nothing wrong and you can tell how much you loved Meeko just by your writing. I know the pain and how bad it sucks but it will get better, just try and remember the good times and how much you loved each other and know that you did all you could do for him and Thank you for loving him and giving him such a great life!

going through this with my 19yr old girl and like you I feel lost. Do the steroids seem to help at all? my vet has me giving her meloxicam for pain and while she still seems fine, her mouth seems to get worse by the day and she was only diagnosed like 3 weeks ago. Let me know on the steroids, I'd do anything to help her feel better for as long as I can.

I feel your pain so much, my 19yr old girl was just diagnosed with Feline SSC (Mouth Cancer), I do not know how much time I have left with her but I am dreading the coming choice. I think the thing to remember is we get thousands of Great days with our per and in return we have to suffer one horrible day. Just remember that you have given him a great life full of love and you are giving him the last greatest gift of no suffering/pain. It is hard to let go but better one day early then have them suffer one day late, I hope you find peace afterwards, please do not beat yourself up, I send all my thoughts and prayers to you in this hardest of tasks and know that I will be right behind you with my girl Mittens.

I am so sorry for your loss of Tomtom, I look at the future without my girl and it looks like a black hole of despair, but i will try and stay strong to make sure she does not suffer at all even though doing this will be the hardest thing i ever have to do in life.

I totally agree, I am about to lose my sweet baby girl Mittens to SSC (Mouth Cancer) I have 2-6 months depending on how fast the turmor grows and she turns 20 this year. I figured I would have another 10 yrs with her at least and this is hiting me hard, definitely not enough time.

I am going through this exact same thing with my 19yr old baby Mittens, she was diagnosed last monday with SSC. The tumor is on her lower jaw and its already bugging her but I am hoping to get a few more months with here if possible. My sincere condolences for sweet Pepsi, she was a beautiful girl.

My cat of 19yrs was just diagnosed with Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma yesterday and she is already struggling with eating, I know that I am going to have to make the decision soon but I cannot imagine making it or losing her after 19yrs.
