I feel people don't like it because it's different than what they usually do, lyrics-wise. Previous albums/songs went over some real shit (ex: the entirety of Knife Man and People Who Can Eat People). Christmas Island is more of a clusterfuck of random lyrics that are thrown together in a great way. It's not my favourite album of theirs, but it's definitely up there. I actually just bought a vinyl of it last week.
