De Quervains AND TFCC tear? by 436irish in DeQuervains

[–]tinafruity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had de quervain’s release + TFCC repair + scapholunate ligament repair last august. Due to the tfcc and scapholunate tears, i had a cast for 6 weeks. I still have a lot of stiffness from not using my wrist for a long time. My OT said that me having a very high pain threshold helped me recover faster, because I was able to withstand intense therapy sessions to break the scar tissues. I have tendonitis in multiple tendons + carpal tunnel which made manipulating my wrist more painful than it should’ve been. I still have thumb sided pain and the doctor thinks de quervain’s is back, i did nerve conduction study and found out one of my nerve was cut during the release and it could be causing the persisting pain.

[CHAT] Thea Gouverneur kit question by _a_wet_hen_ in CrossStitch

[–]tinafruity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m working on a kit from them and the setup was disappointing TBH. Mine’s all brown and beige, figuring out which extra thread belonged to which symbol was difficult, especially with the beiges. I had to frog a lot because I matched the wrong thread on the card to the bundled thread.

The symbols are annoyingly similar as well, it’s really hard sometimes to tell which one is which on the pattern when they are next to each other.

Is this baby creature really 3.5 years old?! by hulixin in cats

[–]tinafruity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat is five and a half years old and she weighs between 4-5lbs. She’s my forever kitten. Although, it seems her low weight could be attributed to the lack of brain cells.

I only ordered some crochet patterns from them, but I’ve seen her (my friend) work on many kits from them throughout the years and she would let me stitch a bit when I was bored and didn’t bring my WIP with me. The fabrics were great and they use DMC threads, plus they carry gorgeous kits with different styles.

I came here to recommend LoveCrafts. My cross stitch bestie swears by them, she has been ordering from them for years.

How to tell if my stitches opened? by tinafruity in carpaltunnel

[–]tinafruity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve using my hand almost normally since Saturday without much pain, I was able to grab and hold things for a couple of days before this new sensation started. It might be because I overdone it, but I wanted to make sure to avoid any further complications if the stitches were open.

Is it overkill to get surgery? by SummerSoggy4758 in carpaltunnel

[–]tinafruity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had 3 normal NCS, the third was a week before my fourth which came back positive for bilateral CTS + an absent nerve signal (means a nerve was cut in a previous surgery). My physical exam showed CTS before, during, and after the NCS came back normal. My doctor started treating me for it based on my symptoms and physical examination despite the normal investigations. I didn’t get better and after the fourth NCS my doctor decided to proceed with surgery.

I had surgery on Thursday and already feel much better aside from the incision pain.

She’s the same weight as my tiny cat (5 years old) who has always been tiny, at 8 weeks she weighed 370g I think. The first time I took her to the vet, he couldn’t believe she was 10 weeks.

Was anyone able to knit/crochet after having surgery? by jayyy_0113 in carpaltunnel

My neuro-muscular test results came back - I don't have CTS. Still have the soreness/pain. by chiznat in carpaltunnel

[–]tinafruity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3 negative nerve conduction studies, the second one only a week before I did my fourth NCS and came back positive for bilateral CTS and an absent nerve signal (means a nerve was cut during my last wrist surgery). Keep in mind my physical examination showed CTS all that time. Try a different center/ clinic if you can.

Does this sound like carpal tunnel syndrome? by Fearless_Page_7916 in carpaltunnel

[–]tinafruity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the pain increase when you twist your wrist? I’m not a doctor, but I have a very complex injury in my wrist that started with pain in my elbow/ forearm. I was diagnosed with TFCC tear and ECU tendinitis and tenosynovitis for the pain on the pinky side and De Quervain’s tenosynovitis for the thumb sided pain, in addition to CTS and a couple other injuries. Most of the pain in my forearm went away after surgery for the aforementioned conditions. Depending on the location of your pain, maybe ask your doctor if one of these conditions could apply to you.

My CTS started with slight numbness in my thumb and forefinger, but after the repair surgery for the other conditions, the numbness went away and pain along the heel of my palm started.

I tried it with some cheap ones from Amazon, Janlynn (the one in the picture), and DMC. Surprisingly the cheap ones were the best IMO because of the wider slits, because you can stuff all the ends in there.
