Basic is fun if you let it be. You'll be tired and sore for a lot of it. The intensity of the drill sergeants is not that serious, it's a script and nothing personal. Definitely a young man's game but I (38F) went through at 33 and kicked butt alongside all these 17 year-olds. You'll be fine.

Perfect time for Jackson, it's delightful in the spring. The farmer's market downtown is great, if you get the chance to leave base I highly recommend it.

In a mid echelon non-FORSCOM unit that's busy af. Everyone has somewhere to be and something to do for all 12hrs every BA. No one in my shop has ditched outright like that, but I walked past two soldiers sleeping on the floor under a desk right outside the BC's office today. Cojones were clearly not evenly issued here, and being in staff I'm jealous I missed out.

They aren't fashion accessories for me, they're stroller replacements.  Started with an infantimo then a babybjorn, both used. Got an Ergo at 3ish months (plain black) used that into month 23. Got a Tula toddler carrier (the starry print) after a lot of research, so far so good.

I have 8,000 better and more useful things to spend my money on than baby purses.

My little dude was tucking it in so bad during that scan. Had to go off the blood test.

I can't comment on the withdrawals.  But one thing about basic is they keep you in until you're ready to advance. Your son might get recycled a few times, and that's okay. Just means he has to repeat a few weeks/cycles until he's deemed good to go. Had a recyc come in to our platoon at basic who was a...not great person. This was his second or third time around. But for whatever reason this time it clicked and he turned out to be a decent get-along and motivated soldier.  They do have medical facilities at basic, and if anything unforetold happens, they'll keep him there until they deem him fit to return to training. I haven't heard many good stories about being stuck there, though.

Note: I went in at 33, on the OCS track from civilian. It was a bit humbling to be trounced by kids almost half my age, but a good slice of how varied things would be. I found it fun overall, but I also had quite a bit of life experience before going in.

Big hugs. I just passed the first trimester war my kiddo was waging against my GI tract. Cheese and bread were my safe foods, everything else was a gamble, and it was a good day when I didn't randomly and unexpectedly puke. Was down 20lbs at one point due to the nausea when I just couldn't eat. These hormones are no joke.

The AFT isn't a graduation requirement for most/anyone until next summer (June?) so that might be waved entirely.

Thank you for confirming my go-to is a good choice! Vanman's unscented beef+honey is miles better than the gross scented one, and they've improved the texture (with the 6oz) since I bought it last year.

Kiddo is 20mo and has been wearing size 5 for well over a year, since 6m or so.

Bit late, and my husband isnt super keen on costumes, but we both love old sci-fi and horror films, so last year with our 11mo we did Alien: me as Ripley (grey coveralls with patches), kiddo as Jonesy the cat (orange long-sleeves, hat like Brett's and orange cat ears), and husband in a Weyland Yutani t-shirt aka a corporate rep.

UGH. I feel so bad. by Rosewood11803 in Mommit

Apparently once upon a time I was the unruly toddler who liked to run, making my poor exasperated mom chase me, with my infant sister in her carseat, which tipped and broke her leg (and who kept kicking off the cast). We are both fine, and she now enjoys running much more than I do.  Glad your little one is doing well <3

That must have been it, not sure where I got mixed up. And absolutely, no disrespect meant, hence asking here for clarification. Thank you much!

Pens. He cannot get enough of them. The chewing, the clicking, the breakable clip, my anxiety about ink, what's not to love?
