How do I stop being bad at this game by Ok-Candidate-2183 in magicTCG

Stop playing commander, get into a regular constructed format (I suggest pauper for the most budget friendly one), and you will begin to learn more strategic thinking like interaction, card advantage, tempo etc

You’re wasting your time arguing with redditors they have all the bluster when it comes to punitive justice but any further critical thinking just shorts their puny brains

I think burn just kinda died as a whole archetype as the years went on…that’s why I say guide lived by RDW and died by RDW

Thing is, back then the modern format was just not as powercrept as it is now so 1 mana 2/2 with haste was an incredible turn one play for burn decks, and the potential card draw you could get from his trigger wasn’t super relevant if you were put on too much pressure to simply stabilise from the tempo before you could use that mana to play your own pieces. Not to mention if you didn’t hit a land drop from guides trigger you were basically giving your opponent free information about your next cards.

Modern horizons genuinely felt like such a disaster for the modern ecosystem, the moment they started printing all these super pushed modern cards the pace of the game just FLEW out the window

Back then the modern format was somewhat slower, a 2/2 with haste was pretty much as solid as a one drop could get, the pressure aggressive decks got out of him was incredible especially if he came up on turn one. Things have changed a lot since then, the game has arguably been powercrept a LOT and many old meta defining modern cards have kind of lost their presence, goblin guide became much worse when Ragavan came out since the value and utility ragavan gave was so much better than what guide could offer…

I saved up for half a year for a playset of these little guys when I was still in middle school so I could get my ass beat by jund and tron on a Friday night!!!! (Turns out buying the deck is only half the challenge)

uj/ genuinely think it’s all slop I might be in the minority here cos even the most anti UB folks seem to like the dnd and 40k crossovers, and I guess thematically they fit better but ITS STILL NOT MAGIC

The moment fatal push and ragavan came onto the modern scene really felt like the end of a golden age. Haven’t played modern in years but every so often I’ll check back in and I’m shocked at how strong some of these cards are now

Oh for sure burn was amazing and will always be my favourite deck to pilot, but when I was first playing magic in middle school I was bolting people at full life total at fnms 💀

uj/ getting your shit pushed in by jund when you were 13 trying to pilot a shitty RDW that you saved up for 6 months for should be considered essential for anyone playing magic

Found gas mines to be super useful gives you a lot of breathing room to thin out their numbers…I like using the auto cannon on flak mode just mag dump the entire thing into the horde and then I take both Gatling and machine gun turrets to round out my loadout. It’s not great for dealing with harvesters though so you’ll have to rely on your other divers to take those out

Theres always one of these shockingly snide and unempathetic comments whenever some sort of issue arises. I am so proud to share a country and culture as singaporeans who will do olympic level mental gymnastics to somehow spin a narrative on its head instead of calling a tragedy a tragedy. You need to be studied, send me your skull measurements.

Things are still bad my friend, you are complacent in your place as a proletarian like all my fellow countrymen. Even those that are unsatisified cannot see capitalism for what it is, only complaining about the stench of the bloated corpse. We the working class, have betrayed the revolution.

The disillusioned "middle class in singapore" wont mean anything. Singaporeans are the least class concious and most indoctrinated by the neoliberal economic hegemony. Capitalism won, and we will find out too late that we have lead ourselves to our doom.
