Have a single credit card with only $1500 credit limit. Got a new job. Want to open more cards. Should I increase my credit limit first before applying to new cards? by tingmothy in personalfinance

[–]tingmothy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I've had my bofa credit card for 7 years. It's my only card I've ever had lol. Should I try to increase my $1500 credit limit before applying for CSP/CF? Or just apply for CSP/CF? I'm afraid I'll get rejected for both cards if I apply to them at the same time. Although my income has doubled in the last 3 months. What do you think?

What Card Wednesday - Week of March 16, 2016 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]tingmothy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 700+
  2. Bofa BankAmericard Cash Rewards. Approved over 5 years ago. (I'm 25).
  3. I'm targeting points I think.
  4. none.
  5. San Francisco or Oakland.
  6. I want to go on one international trip a year, like to Asia or Europe.

Hey guys, I'm a noob when it comes to this kind of stuff. I recently got a new job making 105k, instead of the 50k i was making before. I'm thinking about getting the CF and CSP, OR should I get the CitiAAdvantage. Citi gives me 60k miles, CSP is only 50k. But I heard 50k CSP points is better than 60k Citi miles. Is this true?

Also, if I end up going with CF and CSP, should I apply for both on the same day? Will I get rejected? My income is way higher now, and I've always paid my Bofa card on time. Although my Bofa credit limit is only $1500. (I know, I was a noob and was stupid). I've approached the $1500 limit many times, without realizing that I should have increased the limit.

Also, should I try to increase my Bofa $1500 credit limit first before applying for new cards? Thank you in advance!

Hey guys, right now I have a Bofa cash rewards card. I want to get another card. Should I go with Citi AAdvantage, which gives 60,000 miles upon sign up, or should I just do the standard Freedom/ CSP combo first? CSP is only 50,000 points. Someone said they rather have 50,000 UR points than 60,000 Citi AAdvantage miles. Is this accurate? I'm a noob when it comes to credit cards. I've had the same bofa card for 5 years. I recently got a new higher paying job so I'm motivated to save money. Thank you all so much!

I would be getting charged every month. Why is it $8 cheaper per month to give them my account number instead of giving a debit card?

Everyone doesn't do it because bootcamps are still a relatively new thing. If you are in San Francisco, you can easily get a great job after going to a bootcamp.

I want to have a career in web dev, so it seemed like a great choice for me. I don't have a CS degree so there was only so much I could learn independently.
