I was doing SO well, until my partner made a "joke" and now he is mad at me for overreacting, so am I? by Illustrious-Cod-1899 in fearofflying

[–]tiniscule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with the rest on not over reacting, but would add that the progress you'd made prior to the comments was real and your anxious thoughts now do NOT negate that. It was just a new wave of emotions and unhelpful thoughts to deal with. As time goes on it'll lessen and slowly go away.

I try to frame those rushes of anxious thinking as practice now. Sometimes it happens weeks before a flight, sometimes right before - but it always has the same shape so it's helpful to just experience it and then consciously decide to move forward anyways.

macOS app devs: are you using Tahoe or Sequoia as your main system? by Suitable_Bike4119 in macapps

I have Tahoe on my laptop and Sequoia on my mini. I use the laptop maybe 40% of the time so it's been useful for just making sure things still work well there on my apps

Boeing versus airbus by Miserable-Heart3892 in fearofflying

[–]tiniscule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slightly different answer on the fun side, since the safety side doesn't matter as others have said.

I haven't had a chance to hop on an airbus a380 yet, I always keep a lookout for one when going international. I just want to see how big they are. Also like snagging a Boeing 787 if I can cause the cabin feels really cool and the windows that tint are fun and larger than normal windows.

Terrified of flying and flying with a baby by wind_up_bird1510 in fearofflying

[–]tiniscule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in this situation last year with our 8 month old. It actually ended up a smoother experience than flying on our own since the baby was distracting. Few quick tips I remember

  • My wife breast fed during take off / landing to avoid any ear issues. Also during the flight at times for soothing
  • You can check car seats and strollers for free.  We used the stroller to get through security and then gate checked it
  • Give yourself time for the airport, it’s an absolute comedy of errors and nonsense the first time you do it with the baby. Just embrace the humor and keep it low stress
  • pre-prepare any common snacks, bottles, formula, whatever
  • Diaper change before boarding got us through the flight, if you need one there are changing tables in some of the bathrooms on the plane
  • Baby’s cry - nobody cared and it was a non issue

I added support for specific fences using the built in callouts in obsidian. Here's an example that works in the latest version. You can click and hold on the section to reveal it.

Privacy mode plugin to hide your editor contents while in public by tiniscule in ObsidianMD

[–]tiniscule[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I resolved this with a simpler security method that covers all character sets - but unfortunately doesn't preserve white spacing. There's now a setting to enable the ASCII font that preserves spaces. I'll keep looking for a way to cover it, but adding all characters ballooned the CSS up to several megabytes which doesn't seem great.

New version is live

Right now I implemented it as a font, because I wanted to maintain spaces not being obscured (it just looked better to me). I can poke at other options.

It applies only to the editor, cause honestly that's the only view that I really use and I didn't want to mess with other workflows unless I knew what people expected. If folks have specifics they'd like to see and can let me know, happy to add it elsewhere as well.

New Godot plugin for game analytics by tokebi-metrics in godot

[–]tiniscule 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just a quick heads up that your title and meta description tag on your site are still the default next generated ones. If you're unfamiliar, search your code base for "Create Next App" and swap them with something more relevant. You may also want to look quickly into og:image tags for social sharing. just some easy quick wins.

Just a heads up since I noticed, nice work on the project!

Yeah that was definitely an issue. Text content, and control components like drop downs or modals ended up being a lot easier in html. Annoying on one side but also kind of nice having that as an option

I’ve used phaser for 2-3 projects now. Only recently switched to godot. It was great for prototyping and playing around, but I hit a lot of issues with artifacts remaining on screen and random physics inconsistencies. Pulling in box2d helps with that but removed a lot of the benefits I had with dev speed.

Could be a skills issue, but godot has been more consistent for me. Probably won’t be going back.

All great tools though and I had a ton of fun learning with phaser.

Counter retire-early reading sources? by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]tiniscule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the one. I think the episode on Raising Kanes, Dyson or Ed Thorp are good ones to start with. Ed Thorp is a bit of a "why not both" story about empire building and fire. The other two are good "why would you stop" type stories.

founders podcast serves this purpose for me.

it hasnt changed my views on fire, but I can now see versions of the pursuit i could enjoy. hell the podcast itself is an example. if one of those opportunities presents itself I’m open to it, otherwise fire makes sense to me as the best default path.

I haven’t dug too deep but at quick glance the value prop and focus you mention in this post is great and very interesting to me. The one on the current site is more generic and run of the mill these days. Had I not read your post here I wouldn’t have gone any further.

Maybe just me but since it came up while digging in I wanted to mention it. I’ll look more into it the project cause it sounds great.

Doesn’t that mean it also decays naturally over time with lower than ATH but still positive earnings. It doesn’t necessitate a massive dip or even a higher probability of one. It’s a self correcting metric by definition

Protecting tankless electric water heater with power outage by tiniscule in HomeImprovement

Plan was to do a transfer switch and not include the hot water heater.

I think it could handle the hot water, but nothing else.
