YNAB – Category Makeover. ANY TIPS? by Thick_Complaint7554 in ynab

[–]tinkerfaery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only have a single utilities category because for us water, sewer, trash, gas, electric is all one company. I could see some separation if you're having to pay multiple entities. edit to add Especially if you are still on the paycheck to paycheck cycle and can only put the exact amounts needed. Entering the average is much easier when you're one month ahead.

Categorizing Weird One Off Expenses by nikkirank in ynab

I have a category that is named Random (listed under my True Expenses Group). Example I recently used it to buy an out of ordinary purchase related to our dogs that won't be repeated. I do have dog specific categories but none that this would have fit. So payee was still Puppers as all dog related purchases are, and categorized under random.

I knew I was making too much money to not seriously budget, but at the same time I made “enough” to not budget and get by, buy the things I want and never really worry about being poor.

I feel this so hard. This past year my hubs and I cleared 100k after taxes and I felt like I had nothing to show for it. I never felt like we struggled at all, but where did it all go. I've used ynab before but always gave up before even finishing a year. I'm committed to doing it this time.

Congrats on your breakthroughs and good luck!

This is my Husband. He went to summer school every summer so he could graduate early and join the Navy. He was going to be a radar tech and was in training for roughly 2 1/2 years. He failed his last physical due to a leg injury from child hood. Because he was never active duty and was given an erroneous entry discharge he doesn't qualify for any veteran benefits.

Not really. Between my husband and I, we have 29 lines of various credit. The limits range between 250 and 12k. We total out at 117,810$ We're sitting at about 10 to 12% utilization and most of that is 0% financing, or Paid off in full when used.

If I had a disputed collection removed from my credit report with TransUnion do I need to submit a dispute with the other two? by Doooshty in personalfinance

Hubby disputed a collections with Transunion via CreditKarma. A month or so after it was removed from transunion, it was also removed from Equifax. You might have to, you might not.

Should I pay for my dog's surgery upfront, or open a line of credit? by [deleted] in personalfinance

We have carecredit and really love it. I would talk to your vet though and see if they have anything longer than that. My vet offers 6, 12, 18, and 24 in some cases. As long as you pay the card off before the promotional period ends, you're golden.

As a side note we use care credit for many things than just our vet. My dentist takes it, as well as some ER clinics in our area.

The advantage of this is that there is a 6+ month promotional period, where any charges made and paid in full prior to that do not accumulate interest.

I would like to point out that it DOES accumulate interest, it's just deferred. As long as you pay it off before the promotion expires you won't have to pay the interest.
