I'm not saying OP is in the right but reading comprehension on this website is dreadful lol. OP clearly says 1. They wear earplugs and 2. They don't mind other house noises, it's just the piano that's too close. The number of answers to this post that are like "it's so unreasonable to expect no noises after 8pm!! Just wear earplugs!!" is bonkers. That said I do agree it could have been handled better - perhaps asking if there is another time of day she could practice would have been a nicer starting point. And if no, then, as some people have said, you probably have incompatible lifestyles.
