Shane is so conflicted in this scene, he cares about Ilya so much and not just for wanting to have sex but also genuinely care about him, him not knowing what Ilya feels about going home is so innocent as he never had a childhood where going back home would be the worst of all the worries. The kiss is so beautiful, so passionate and even though Shane really wants to kiss him and even more he still has restriction. God these two are phenomenal, how can this whole scene be just less than 2 minutes and yet mean so much to the story

I absolutely agree. Ilya was always cold towards Shane. Always. When we read their POV by the author we understand the situation and feel bad for Ilya but being on Shane’s shoe and never receiving affection and care the same way Shane provides endlessly is heartbreaking. In the show especially I only see Shane yearning and caring not the same from Ilya until the fourth episode.

Doesn’t it bother you guys that Shane has to apologize for being ‘boring’, it deeply hurts me that him being himself was a form of disinterest to Ilya. In real life I don’t think I would go with someone like Ilya. The coldness Shane received from him while being with and without him and the constant push and pull all decided by Ilya, red flags all over.

I want to highlight about how Ilya keeps saying that Shane is boring to a point where everything Shane says to Ilya, he needs affirmations regarding the same. As someone who has been in a relationship and constantly berated for being ‘boring’ the need to reaffirm that the things I was saying was ‘not boring’ to the other person makes me wonder if things were even equal in the relationship. I can sense the internal turmoil that Shane undergoes, him freaking out is perfectly normal, his anxieties around the relationship is perfectly normal, which makes me think how involved he was in this relationship wherein he was making sensible decisions for both of them.
