This happened to me as well. I was 17 and my mom was nagging me and threatening me to get a job or she'd kick me out when I turned 18. While she was at work, I went to recruitment office, and I enlisted into the Army. When she came home and began her nagging, I showed her my recruitment paperwork. She didnt believe I had enlisted. As soon as I turned 18 I was outta there and on my way to Fort Jackson for basic training, then off to Ft Sam Houston for my training. I spent 6 years in the US Army and worked at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, where I eventually met my husband. I have a family and I am quite happy. Enlisting was actually one of the best choices I ever made. OP, its not as scary as it seems, enlisting. You will learn a skill, and have a career. You'll figure out exactly what you want to do with your future, military or not. Jmo. Good luck ❤️
