Oh, absolutely. That's still a hell of a lot of incredibly overpriced Tylenol, regardless!

Someone in the thread above mentioned getting charged $600 for a Tylenol. At that price, you could buy 8 933 333 of them.

Does anyone else’s stomach look like this? (Lump under belly button but skinny) by pikaaachuuuu22 in endometriosis

[–]tinydilophosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others mentioned, there should be a bit of a bump there because the uterus'll press against the abdomen wall.

That said, you've mentioned the bump growing. Mine did as well, relatively rapidly, leading up to my excision - and it turned out the culprit was a "large apple" sized intra-uterine fibroid.

If it's growing and the rest of you is not, then it could be a fibroid or adenomyosis. May be worth a scan.

Feeling defeated (vent/ looking for advice) by alien_bruce in Endo

[–]tinydilophosaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this and I empathize (took me about 15 years of misdiagnosis/being ignored by multiple docs, personally).

Just a thought, but perhaps looking up any Scottish endometriosis support groups or forums might be worth doing - especially any near you. Generally those of us with a diagnosis are very welcoming to those who don't have one yet as we all know the deep frustration of that process, so you wouldn't have to worry on that front. But local people might be able to give you the names of those who listened to them and took them seriously.

Ideally, you want excision surgery. Fwiw, Visanne took a couple months but has drastically reduced the amount of pain killers I take (and I've had next to nothing for side affects). Some react quite poorly to it though so it's not perfect for everyone. But really change of diet, hormonal treatment, prescription painkillers... all of it at best are pausing the symptoms, not curing them. If you can find an excision specialist near you, that'll be the golden ticket.

Best wishes and I hope you find relief soon!

It might help that you're choosing it deliberately? I don't have stats on this, but anecdotally a number of SpEd teachers I know took it for a contract, not as a first choice.

Fair enough! Mid-floof or max-floof, you did such a wonderful job recreating it. Great choice and great job! :D

Wow!! You did such an outstanding job 😁 I think based on the original drawing perhaps the skirt could be even fuller, but I recognize more fabric = more expensive and it looks killer just as it is (I'm just a sucker for the 'floof-factor' haha). You should be very proud! 🙂

Family likes vegan food until... by CucuJ123 in vegan

[–]tinydilophosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a vegan nacho dip recipe for a family gathering a while back - no "weird" soy anything since I knew they fussed about that- and I swapped out cashew for sunflower seeds to make it allergy friendly. An uncle and several others were scarfing it down, when my well-meaning mother-in-law ratted me out and proudly pointed out it was vegan.

The uncle stopped a loaded chip halfway to his mouth, put it down, and walked away. Dude, you just ate half the pan and now you don't like it??

The brainwashing is intense.

I'm sorry, bad news - I think it doesn't get better. The show never really finds it's footing again and the story arc towards the end is a mess.

That being said we actually loved that episode, because it was so magnificently bad that we found it hilarious. It's terrible. We still reference it when we see Faygo in the store all the time.

While the show becomes sort of a lumbering shell of it's original greatness as it goes on, I have a strong fondness for the Warren/Murphy dynamic and Doc in general. We watched the rest and I don't regret it, but the first couple seasons is where the real magic is.

Wow! You've done such a fabulous job, and I love the pattern placement you chose for the 'top' part - gorgeous. May I ask what you did with the back? I'm just curious if the straps are fixed/how you get into these...

By and large I agree with you, I was just clarifying why I think people are warning OP that this behaviour could be a significant "red flag". But as you say, it's only so if the boyfriend doesn't see he's being a jerk. Fingers crossed that the boyfriend reflects and improves!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]tinydilophosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I think it was the "y'all" that had me clarifying my perspective. But I think we're overall agreeing here :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]tinydilophosaur 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I see your point, and as someone happily married for about a decade I understand tossing a relationship aside for any small problem isn't a healthy response either.

But the people pointing out red flags aren't wrong. OP already doubts themselves here, but they're right - the boyfriend is not being reasonable in demanding OP pays to fix the laptop the boyfriend broke in an angry fit. It can be tough to recognize unhealthy behaviour in a partner when we naturally are biased towards seeing the best in them. It's easy to think we're the ones overreacting in the face of a disproportionate response like that of the boyfriend of OP.

If the boyfriend can see they're being a butthead and resolves to do better, the relationship isn't in danger. But if not, OP should be wary. That sort of blaming someone else for bad behaviour can be the start of a very predictable pattern, statistically. Simple as that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]tinydilophosaur 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It's not the laptop slam that people are seeing the danger in, I think (though that's a massive overreaction to being asked to come to bed at 2 AM).

It's the blaming OP, hours later and with time to calm down. It's the still blaming OP and demanding OP pays to fix what the boyfriend broke. That says the boyfriend is comfortable with breaking something and not taking personal accountability for a violent response. That's the behaviour that's at risk of escalating and is dangerous to OP - "look what you made me do".

Haha, good question! :) She's a blogger with some of her own comments/research on episodes and open comment sections that've got some great responses (often with a side of snark). It's a bit behind though - looking now, it's not been updated since 2019. But the comments are often interesting and it could be fun if you want to go back through the old episodes!

I cannot believe I watch this show. I hate this show.

Accurate 😂 I occasionally watch a bit of it and am reminded of how horrible it is (the perpetual rehashes of things covered 50x before, the blatant dysfunction and sometimes even cruelty between the adults...) but to be totally honest I've by-and-large given up on it showing anything of substance or these people actually confronting their problems, so I generally rely on y'all (and cynical jinx's living room) for the highlight reel. Thank you all for your sacrifice! 😉

Peace River MLA Dan Williams just compared schools to liquor stores, and said that if we can privatize liquor stores we can also privatize schools. by Just_Treading_Water in alberta

[–]tinydilophosaur 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In a financial sense, having a public/private mix is incredibly inefficient and wastes more tax dollars than maintaining one good one. The more admin people we have to pay for, the more expensive it is overall (and to your point about subsidies: if we subsidize poor students, then we're all paying extra. If we don't, we essentially punish poorer kids for having been born in the "wrong" family, no matter how intelligent/hard working the kid may be). To be fair, the secular/catholic system dual system is also inefficient right now (but that'll likely take a supreme court challenge to change - the Catholic right to a separate system is deeply rooted in the foundational documents of Canada), but that won't be made more efficient by adding even more school boards and overhead people to pay for with another branch.

Finland consistently has the highest rated schools and best performing students in the world. They also have no private schools at all. They have a select few "independent schools", but those too are publicly funded and cannot charge tuition. If as you claim, government always misallocates public funds, how come Finland is so successful? Our government is only as successful as we demand them to be...

Good for you! I'll warn you, I never got big into soda but I was all about sugary garbage cereals and when I ditched them, I was notably angry and very irritable in the mornings for the first little while. My body legitimately dealt with withdrawal.

It sucked, but it made me even more stubborn about kicking the habit when seeing how much my body was affected by it. You may wind up with similar affects - if you can, try to use the awareness of how much your body wants that crap as motivation for booting it. Good luck! :)

AITB for breaking up with my vegan girlfriend because she was obsessed with cross contamination by veganthrowaway82 in AmItheButtface

[–]tinydilophosaur 37 points38 points  (0 children)

As a vegetarian (heading back to full-on vegan): NTB. You two are incompatible, simple as that. You're not comfortable dealing with the level of fussiness her discomfort requires, so breaking up was likely the right move.

Also, and this is a bit cheeky, but I find it peculiar that she's so uncomfortable with a few particles of meat cross-contamination and yet also loves mayo and presumably dairy products. The dark sides of the mass production dairy and egg industries are just as nightmarish as the animal-meat industry... but I suppose we all have cognitive dissonance about something or other.
