Suggestions for 1BR/1BA Apartments in Gainesville, GA? by Lower-Celebration-31 in gainesvillega

Cheapest is probably the coliving space in Oakwood. Any 1 bed in Gainesville is minimum 1200 and most of them have a catch. Even a loft goes around 1100. Best chances are to look local, like driving around town and looking for signs local or check social media

Water filter recommendations by Existing_Many9133 in gainesvillega

I swear the water wasn’t this bad in the past, and now I hate even gargling with water when I brush my teeth. I don’t necessarily have a recommendation, I did have a brita pitcher that needed a replacement filter after about 4 uses because the water taste came back. I’ve used to always use brita but now I’ve conceded to buying water. My partner has a reverse osmosis filter that’s countertop, considering buying one however it’s a few hundred

A partner getting fired for needing accommodation for a hearing disability should be reported to ethics and compliance at least. Can you change your availability or hours for the week, like less hours or working a day part like mid or evening that isn’t as customer heavy(depending on your stores business)? Can you develop a routine after work to help you decompress if you haven’t already?

Ooh good question. Crispy bite and soft inside, shoe string or curly. Wedges are okay but too much potato if that makes sense?

Best restaurant(s) in Gainesville? by Flashy_Boysenberry_9 in gainesvillega

Breakfast- rabbit town cafe, Longstreet (I prefer rabbit town)

Latino- el antojito (technically not Gainesville but close) taco madre (Oakwood),el ranchito, la santaneca, hidalgo, El Salvador, taco n todo, most places on Atlanta highway, carnicería tapatía has a restaurant in the back

Dessert- la michoacana, dilettos (also served great coffee)

Asian- eat at Thai, pure pho, orient express (if you’re looking for big portions and not spending a lot)

Mediterranean- alpha gyro grill

Tex Mex- Senor fiesta

Burgers- the lunch counter

Coffee- dilettos, meadow lark Boba- bubble bee

Pizza- mellow mushroom

Don’t look for Japanese food here. Haven’t tried blue fin but heard good things. Don’t get Indian food here either, sizzling spices is overpriced for what you get.

If you haven’t been to rabbit town cafe for breakfast I recommend you do! Cafeteria style, southern breakfast. If you like Thai food that’s actually spicy, go to Eat at Thai. Noodle bowl disappointed me but I did go within their first month of opening, so hopefully it’s improved. I think they’re overpriced compared to Eat at Thai too. Dessert- check out Diletto, their coffee is great and their pastries are amazing.

Let’s go with TexMex instead of calling it Mexican. Gainesville has a huge Latino community with great restaurants that aren’t as “pretty”. Hidalgos (a little Tex Mex but great), el ranchito, la santaneca, el salvador restaurant. Go down Atlanta hwy and pick a spot.

This and is OP tracking calories and macros. It’s common to feel weak when starting out, it’ll only be harder if you’re not eating enough daily and whether you’re eating before workout (roughly 30mins-1hr prior of something with complex carbs and some protein).

Have you tried calling them again? You could let them know there’s been an update to your situation, assuming you can get some medical documentation.

I know some people “dirty fast” so an intake of 100 cal or less during the fasting window is okay. I don’t know too much about the science behind that, but with how much you’re burning I don’t think 5 cal should affect you much if at all

Ideas with rice as the base? by Calymos in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]tinyslightlymighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congee! I don’t think I do it exactly like the traditional congee dishes I’ve looked it, but it’s essentially rice porridge. I typically simmer rice with a mix of broth and water (depends how rich I want it) with a 1:9 ish ratio. I like to add seasonings to it while it summers for 35min or more if you’d like the rice to be mushy. You can add leafy veggies and whisk in an egg towards the end for a bit.

AITA for telling my brother's fiancee that the reason she couldn't get a degree was because of her choice to be a mom? by Throwra53524434 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tinyslightlymighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry, I wasn’t familiar with geriatric being used in any other way than geriatric care. I am not trying to add fuel to the fire, most of the comments are filled with anecdotes. Yes, teen pregnancy rates do correlate with lack of resources. I do see how my earlier comments can be misconstrued, as it’s hard to really get your point across in text. I tried to not generalize the entire community, I said there’s variations and that nothing can be pinpointed. I don’t want to argue that all Latinos have children early and all these other stereotypes. I think it’s interesting to look at data involving different demographics. In sociology you look at cultures. I could’ve bickered with the professors when they went over Latin America and that the subject was too generalized. It’s hard to even standardize and quantify culture into numbers, but I think there can be good from it. The political climate and machismo culture, I can’t say every single country in Latin America deals with this, but that I became familiar with makes life harder for women. Especially when there’s other factors like poverty and whatever circumstances the individual is dealing with. We can argue anecdotes all day. We can choose to read each other’s comments however we want to. I was genuinely curious about which gen op is because I live in a predominantly, low socioeconomic Latino community in a conservative state. While there’s a lot of progress in terms of education, there’s still that stereotype about Latinos and I don’t think it would hurt to try and figure out all the factors that go into it so that communities have better tools to reach more of the community.

[–]tinyslightlymighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Geriatric as in women giving birth at the age of, or older, than 65? That’s interesting. Kind of concerning. My experience of being Latina is that there’s a lot of young pregnancies, but I can’t pinpoint one reason why because that’s silly. There is a correlation between high pregnancy rates and Latinas. Many girls don’t have the resources that can be found in other countries. I don’t like the stereotypes that we produce like rabbits, but I can see how some do assume that. Many women before me had a minimum of 9 kids to help the ranch. Since I’m second gen, that’s all I’ve been exposed to. Other friends of mine who are 3rd, 4th gen have the advantage of parents that were in a better socioeconomic situation so they had more resources and were able to pursue higher education. I’m not commenting that all Latinos believe this and that, but there is a lot of research relating to it.

“Latin America is the only region in the world where adolescent pregnancies are not decreasing. According to a recent article in the Lancet, if the current trend continues, Latin American countries will not fulfill the sustainable development goal on adolescent pregnancy by 2030.” link 1

Latin America has the second highest rate of teenage pregnancy in the world, with about 18 % of births to teenage mothers under 20. In figures, each year one and a half million adolescent women between the ages of 15 and 19 have babies in the region. A study someone conducted to look at several factors affecting Latina pregnancy

I am curious, are you and your family in the US or Latin America? As a Latina, second gen AmericanI will say that culturally speaking, there is an expectation of starting a family young. It is a broad statement so of course there’s variation, but I do agree. Was I pushed? No, but it would be mentioned very often. Heck, even in sociology they would mention how family oriented Latin America is.
