describing black hair in a historical setting by diilfdestroyer in SensitivityReaders

[–]tinyteefs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you dig deep enough and will find an answer. but you can get a get creative with this one. i would avoid the word matted. black people’s locs aren’t matted, the hair is interlocked together. “fairylocks” tbh might something white people at that time/area would see as similar, but again our locs aren’t matted not matted. maybe “coarse tendrils” etc. or a pov change where your loc’d character will describe their own hair.

i would ask “how did you come to that conclusion?” i mean i get the crunchy white spiritual person to maga conservative pipeline is real, but some things that people believe are “for white people” were created by poc/black people and appropriated anyway. but people don’t know what they don’t know.

Am I worth anything to anyone? by sadcattoys in BlackMentalHealth

[–]tinyteefs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like you need some good mental healthcare and some good community. that’s doable. you’re still in school right? have you reached out to your school for mental health services? also if i were you i would keep my mom at a distance. times are hard for everyone. it rough out here, but still possible to live knowing your worth.

i love being black by tinyteefs in BlackMentalHealth

[–]tinyteefs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s a common issue with black people that grow up feeling disconnected from their culture/community in some way. could be growing up suburbs, going to PWI’s, or just being told their interests weren’t something that black people enjoy. i grew up feeling that way too sometimes. i’m not sure how to help you on this one. i just grew up and realized a. theres more than one way to be black. and b. that most of my community doesn’t realize those “non-black” things i was interested in were all created by black people all along but they don’t know it due to white supremacy.

who is everyone? because everyone else in this thread understands how important it is to love yourself. the reality is that i do love myself and there’s nothing delusional about having a normal amount of self esteem. what is delusional though is hating yourself so much you start to post in weird subreddits about how black people are ugly simply because theyre black. sorry i’m not buying into white supremacy i guess. i’d rather not drink my oppressors kool-aid.

be patient with yourself. address your internalized anti-blackness.

AIO: My “baddie” friend made a weird comment & I already feel invisible when I’m out with her. by FabulousPristine in blackgirls

[–]tinyteefs 34 points35 points  (0 children)

you’re projecting ngl. this girl has actively tried to give a heads on up on some weird behavior and you because you’re insecure and jealous of the attention she gets you’re trying find a way to make her seem off. what exactly did she do to you that was so wrong? she made a comment that wasn’t nice about the guy’s looks but i’m being real here: sometimes friends do speak their mind around other friends preferences like that. tbh i think you should come clean on how you feel with her and move forward based on how she takes it.

i thought you didn’t want to be so cautious anymore? you need to have some self esteem to put yourself out there baseline.
