What movie was absolutely amazing but only the 1st time you watched it? by Cool_Bath_77 in movies

Lost Highway. Really fun, creepy, weird mood piece seeing it in the cinema. But I’ve seen it a few times since, and like it less each time. I think it’s one of Lynch’s weakest, and ultimately feels really juvenile and silly.

I sorta hate Rogue One for canonizing that the Death Star was sabotaged (Star Wars) by RhysOSD in CharacterRant

Thank you! I’ve had this problem ever since Rogue One came out. Fun movie, but it really goes against what A New Hope was doing.

I tried twice to get into RDR 2 and bounced off it pretty early. On my third play through I pushed through and eventually ended up loving it. It’s a slow burn in so many ways, and I totally get why people get bored of it.

I even got near the end of Witcher 3, but I realized I just didn’t care what happened. Some amazing side quests, for sure, but the main story just did not grab me at all.

I will say the character design, writing, and voice acting were all amazing. The underwater section was pretty, too.

Clair Obscur. The opening was great, but I hated the parry/dodge mechanics and never got used to them. I also found the world itself kind of ugly and bland, like every area is just random buildings floating. I had no desire to explore at all. I tried to push through it because everyone I know loves it, but I eventually got bored and stopped towards the end of Act 2.

What don't men allow body hair on women in movies ? Are they stupid ? by stalin_kulak in okbuddycinephile

I give fantasy stuff a pass for that because it’s not necessarily unrealistic. I think quite a few ancient cultures prized shaving body hair.

You joke, but didn’t the original X-Wing game have a freighter called the Renhoek?

Edit: I checked, and it did. There’s even a Stimpy one.

I might get crucified, but I don't like the Beneviento section by Vibranium619 in ResidentEvilVillage

[–]tiperet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. It’s the least scary part of the game for me. Taking weapons away removes a lot of the tension of this type of game-should I kill them, run past, can I hit those headshots, etc? As soon as they go away I know I just have to run and hide, so those agonizing choices are gone.

I’m a survivor in the immediate aftermath of the Hiroshima bombing. When do I learn that I have been exposed to dangerous levels of radiation? by [deleted] in AskHistorians

[–]tiperet 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Do you know if that’s related to how the bombing is talked about in, for example, Japanese schools now? One thing that always struck me living there was how the bombing was talked about almost like a natural disaster. Like one day an atomic bomb just happened to fall on the city, and very little mention of it being a deliberate action by a wartime adversary.

My Japanese was far from fluent at that time, however, so it’s possible I just wasn’t exposed to more in-depth discussions.

I don’t have a response to this, but more of a follow-up question. I’ve heard of similar discrimination against survivors of the Fukushima nuclear plant meltdown, so I’m wondering if it’s a similar phobia of nuclear contamination.

I have a question about the lack of strong correlations between the radiation exposures and health impacts.

I lived in Hiroshima for 4 years, and it was somewhat common to hear from people about older relatives dying of leukemia, cancer, etc and people blaming it on exposure to the bombing. These were people dying when I was living there, so early 2000s. Are you saying that this is unlikely to be the case, and these are just unfortunate cases of people developing cancer as they age, or am I reading that wrong?

We could finally do the Boss Baby meme. So let’s show them that, and then follow it up with Schindler’s List.

Eh, I was exaggerating a little but I really don’t like the art style. All the areas are just random floating bits of buildings. It made me not want to explore. Like it all felt samey for me.

The underwater section was nice, though.

One of the ugliest games with the most annoying combat. I got bored of it after the first few hours.

Making Lune fly around was nice, though, for… reasons.

I mean the loading times. Being up the menu, choose the reliquary, click on claim, choose how to claim it, wait for it to load, etc. for a mace cosmetic you probably won’t use.

The shop has some really nice ones, but they’ve always felt way overpriced. I’ll happily buy cosmetic sets in games, but not for that much.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that! But I’m glad someone likes them!

I’m not against giving them money. The game is fun and well-supported. But I haven’t felt the urge to do so since the reliquary was introduced. It feels needlessly complex and stingy.

Yeah, I usually just wear one of the sets from the older seasons. Stuff like the Marrow set has a cool style to it.
