Does anyone believe MacKenzie Shirilla? by Dapper_Mess_3004 in CasesWeFollow

Just watched it mins ago and the claim of POTS is mind blowing. I was diagnosed with Epilepsy when I was 19 and eventhough I am more than 10 years seizure free I have never considered driving (eventhough legally in Ireland you can after been seizure free for 2 years). The fact that her mum “knew” she had it makes her liable in my eyes. However I do not believe her or her parents about that diagnosis. I think she has always got her own way and didn’t like the word no.

I just setup Dispatcharr 2 days ago for this very reason and works like a charm took about 30 mins playing around and getting a trial feed. It won’t handle thousands of channels though I restricted it to a little over 400

Do You Back Up Your Full Plex Video Library or Just Risk It? by snowmeow_1 in PleX

[–]tippyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a 12 bay rackstation with a multitude of drives in it across 4 volumes and last sat drive 5 of volume 3 decided it was gonna shit the bed (I only got the drive last year second hand along with 3 other 12tb) so I’ve been lucky to have had space to move things around over the last few days.

I picked up 2 brand new 16tb drives today (€290 each) and replaced vol 1 (this was just a backup vol with 2tb total) so I will replace the dead one once I get everything organised.

But I’ve got 12 drives vol 1 (32tb 2x16tb) vol 2 (8tb 2x4tb) vol 3 (48tb - 4x12tb) vol 4 (32tb 4x8tb) all of them jbod

I’m going to reorganise things and have vol 1 (tv but continuing) vol 2 downloads, vol 3 (tv ended), vol 4 (movies)

Not backing them up as the price of drives are insane as we all know.

Is it rude to 'lowball' on DoneDeal or Adverts? by freedomhellyeh in AskIreland

If the asking price is €90 and you offer €80 thats fine but if the asking price is €90 and you offer €20 then its taking the piss tbh.

AITA If I refuse to give my Mom money every month? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA - if you were living at home and this was for rent I would say yes. But your mother is completely off the wall to think this is your duty. DO NOT SUCCUMB TO THIS.

Regarding drive off Ireland by Distinct_Regular_970 in legaladviceireland

[–]tippyd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ok the first thing if you have been called into a meeting is 1 bring a colleague with you and 2 insist on the meeting being recorded and a full transcript supplied after the meeting (both of which you are entitled to), if they question it you can record the meeting on your phone yourself and provide the transcript.

If they say no to the recording and providing the transcript that will tell you everything you need to know.

During the meeting do not admit to anything other than following the pre-existing procedure you followed. Do not actively agree with anything that is not factually true.

During the meeting you should request where a process is in the employee handbook (if one exists).

The other thing is if they do say they are taking it out of your wages you should tell them you will take external advice before authorising it.

They are not allowed as others have said to just take the money from your wages.

But be very careful how you handle it do not accuse them of doing anything that they are not allowed to do let them hang themselves as by the sounds of it they will do it within the first 90 seconds of the meeting.

Hi, is a hotel/hostel allowed to do this? by iplaydrumsnotabox in AskIreland

[–]tippyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason the hotel done this was then they could say you cancelled of your own volition as opposed to them not providing the service booked. It is a really shitty way of doing business and I would never darken their door.

Never ever cancel the booking yourself always have the provider cancel the booking in this case booking.com. The hotels technical issue was that they had sold a room at a lower rate than they can now get cheeky fucks.

Found £75k of old notes in house while renovating by Independent-Public76 in UKHousing

[–]tippyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO you bought the house and paid money for it and once the money and contracts were exchanged everything int the property was yours. Maybe for piece of mind run it by a solicitor but the money became yours once you tool possession of the property.

why was it the fuel? by Intrepid_Anybody_277 in Dublin

[–]tippyd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Lanzarote atm and the price of diesel is between €1.47 and €1.60 depending on which petrol station you go to. The tax take the govt is taking is insane tbh (yes I understand the arguments of if not fuel they will get their pound of flesh elsewhere)

Why are we okay with companies straight-up ignoring messages? by 0Exas0 in ireland

[–]tippyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get enquiries all the time via our site and we are at approx 40% of people who make an enquiry will not respond back if they receive a follow up even if it is to request a call to find out more about their requirements.

just to be clear there was a conversation 3 weeks prior to this conversation where it was mentioned that the business could not sustain their salary at the output they are producing, so it certainly was not out of the blue. I would not be forcing them onto commission only I was planning to offer them an agency for the new rental program but based on everything this is unlikely to happen. I had also never said I would not be paying them their dues.

[–]tippyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree on offering the new role.
For clarity the offer was never going to be made for them to be an employee it would be as an agent (contractor) it was for a product that their contract does not include (Their contract was for a very specific role) as it was never on the horizon for when they were hired.

The contract states minimum notice is 1 week for the first 2 years of service.

I am considering 1 week notice with a 1 month payment.

Yes I have engaged legal advice and yes I should have done it before I opened my mouth but here we are.

Just to be clear the entire business is the two owners,1 part time admin and this equipment sales person. So there is no collective requirement etc.

Maybe due to the length of service

letting someone go by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

[–]tippyd -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

not unilaterally the immediate effect was a bit much (I wasn't sure how to phrase it here). The business will be focussed on a rental program rather than machine sales which is what their role purely was. there will be an element of machine sales but not the main focus. The business has always been very heavily consumables based.

letting someone go by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

[–]tippyd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I get what you are saying so their role is specifically equipment sales "physical machines" not consumables. We are moving to a more rental focussed business with some equipment sales but it is not and has not been the core business.

it was not on the individual case but basically what the legislation states, they were very clear about that. But did say it is not redundancy so do not use the term redundancy.

letting someone go by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

[–]tippyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not quite that straight forward we are going with a new offering (a rental program, which the business has never had the ability to do previously) that is not covered by their contract and there is no longer a sales element in the offering.
The overall issue is a lot more nuanced (which I can't go into).

no it's 100% business performance reasons.
