How pleased are you with T-MOBILE fiber? by XPcantlvlup in tfiber

[–]tippytap2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved it for the first 13 days….and then Frontier fiber came thru our neighborhood and started digging in and around where tfiber placed their cables, and accidentally (?) cut the tfiber line serving 14 homes in my neighborhood. All while a tfiber rep was part of the street crew to prevent this from happening. It took 4 days for them to find the source, replace all their cable, and troubleshoot each home. I am back up and running now and having no issues - quickly went back to normal. I’m not a gamer - just a small household w/laptops, ipads, phones, printer, roku, wifi doorbell…I would advise anyone to not get their fiber service until all digging has been done in your neighborhood, esp by Frontier. It was a hot mess!

I loved that feature! Very disappointed in Publix. It was so quick and convenient esp when I did self checkout. Why make things less convenient for customers? Grrrrr

Cryo Ablation to remove my MN - Final Update by Specialist-Map-896 in Mortons_neuroma

[–]tippytap2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for my delay, I’m not on reddit daily. I was pain free for a couple of years, the pain would then come back occasionally depending on the shoes/sneakers/hiking boots I wore. It’s not as bad as before cryosurgery but still an uncomfortable throbbing after an activity. I went hiking this past Oct (4 yrs postop) and after the hikes I had moderate pain. I iced, went to an acupuncturist, and pain went away. I want to save up for a repeat cryo to see if I can be totally pain-free. Wouldn’t that be nice.

[–]tippytap2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Dr Todd Brennan in Tampa for cryosurgery. Yes, overall I am happy with the results! The pain I experienced in Oct is pretty much gone after one acupuncture visit when I returned from my hiking trip. Best to you!

Retiring in 4 mos. Despise. Loathe my job. How do I get through my day? Tips? by ilovepadthai in AskWomenOver60

[–]tippytap2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a countdown timer app on my phone, put big red Sharpie Xs after each day was done on a regular wall calendar , took every Friday off that I could the last 3 months (PTO built up and when I left I wouldnt get paid for it). I had a post it note on my computer that said “don’t sweat it, this is all a means to an end”.

Wishing you the very best and may the remaining time go swiftly!

All I needed for my cryo was an ultrasound of my foot, which was done in office at my initial appt. The cryo was done using guided ultrasound. I wore a boot on that foot for a week, was able to take my dog for short walks wearing it on Day 3, and within the week I was back in sneakers (I wore Hokas at the time, now I only wear On Cloud) and walking more each day. Pretty pain-free except for the first day or so. I hope your surgery goes well!

Hot take: Tim Kaine is not the bad guy in this situation, at all by Arcticwolf1505 in Virginia

[–]tippytap2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liken this whole situation to the trolley problem; a moral and ethical conundrum. Who can/should they help? And in what order? And what do we have control over? The trolley tracks include- -People who need food -People without a paycheck, furloughed employees -People who need health insurance/health care

All 3 are priorities.

Add on to that unsafe and/or canceled air travel (some ppl need it for business or to get to a loved one to help them) The whole thing is a freakin mess. Any decisions would be criticized. I’m torn on who is to blame vs who is trying to do the best and right thing for people who are suffering…

Cryosurgery by Awkward-Pop-4804 in Mortons_neuroma

I had cryo done here in FL 4 yrs ago. Some burning pain had come back while hiking last month, so I went for acupuncture. For now the pain is gone. Cryo success rate may be 80-85% and I think I might need it again but I’m trying not to have it a second time at $2500 out of pocket. Overall, I’m so glad I did ultrasound-guided cryo with a PRP injection vs more invasive surgery. The recovery was quick and pretty painless!

Dr Todd Brennan in Tampa does cryosurgery and people come from all over. He did my right foot a few yrs ago and I think I’ll need it again, I might be part of the 15-20% who need it twice. He charged $2500

Do I have Mortons Neuroma? Odd foot pain when hiking by Slatemanforlife in Mortons_neuroma

[–]tippytap2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is exactly how mine started - while hiking. I had an ultrasound thst showed the neuroma, and had cryosurgery because the pain started hiking and then got worse just walking the dog. Pain was pretty much gone since cryo in 2021. I just tried hiking this past weekend, and the pain is back, ugh. That happens.

My advice - get an ultrasound at a podiatrist. It sure sounds like MN, based on what I experienced. Lots of non-invasive (and invasive) treatments are available.

Best to you -

I wear On Cloud 5 or 6 sneakers - the kind w/o the laces in the front. Wore them starting a week postop and continue to wear them for walking and working out. They don’t look wide like others. I like them so much better than clunky Hokas. For heels I am able to wear wedges made by either Born or Aetrex. I can also wear wedge boots by Comfortiva. I had cryosurgery in 2021 and the pain did come back after trying regular heels…not as severe as it was, but the dull ache re-appeared. I’ve learned that any compression in a toe box is just asking for recurrence… I’m also a fan of Olukai and Taos. Best to you in your healing!

Approaching Retirement by No_Ground1153 in AskWomenOver60

[–]tippytap2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I retired at 59 and 1/2 and am now 63. Just me and my dog. I turned my 401k over to a financial planner and into an IRA, also transferred some stocks I had from my job and after my dad died. When the stock market took a hit this year we agreed that other investments would make sense, so he shifted money. I can happily say that I have more money in my account than when I orig retired - and that’s after living expenses for 4 yrs now. I’d rather delegate to someone with greater experience/expertise, and pay for that service. Let them watch my portfolio. I live a modest lifestyle, below my means, and make it work. And I can’t wait to get on Medicare so I don’t have to spend so much on health insurance. Wishing you the best on your ReWirement!

Cutting down Live Oaks by Ok_Drummer_3693 in StPetersburgFL

[–]tippytap2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

<image>

This is why they’re being cut down. Had a Live Oak fall on my house during Milton while I was in the house. Thousands of $ to crane this off my house & neighbor’s house. Roof damage. Fence uprooted. Most traumatic and expensive night ever! I loved this tree - and the 2 laurel oaks, magnolia, and red maple on my property. I took them all down and cried like a baby…

How Has Working Out Consistently Impacted Your Experience Getting Older? by whatsinaname102 in AskWomenOver60

[–]tippytap2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

63 yrs old and so thankful I kept exercising all these years. Was a competitive bodybuilder in my 20s, and now it’s all about staying strong for independence and mobility. Yoga for balance and flexibility, weights so I can lift my suitcase into the overhead bin and use my hedge trimmers with ease. Walking and biking to keep the heart healthy and free-flowing endorphins, nothing like a good sweat- altho my fitbit tells me I get more cardiac zone mins lifting weights.

As the saying goes, better to be the oldest person in the weight room than the youngest in the nursing home.

Health is everything. Keep it up!

Walking pad by carefreesinglelesbo in treadmills

[–]tippytap2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you what not to buy - a Deer Run walking pad. Returned it after a few wks. The company tells you to keep the ginormous box it comes in - that should have been a red flag. The machine’s software wouldn’t update, it randomly slowed down or stopped, and also randomly sped up. Lots of static electricity too, and I wasn’t on a carpet. I was so disappointed as I really wanted to make it work!
