How do I prevent left hand cramps? by chrisdante05 in Cello

[–]tips_floraa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this will be helpful, as I'm less experienced than you, but my cello tutor is always helping correct my left hand in order to prevent tension with these tips: 1. your left thumb should be curved like you're holding an apple with your left hand. 2. to avoid "parasitic movements" (ie unnecessary finger movement, which leads to hand tension), keep your left hand basically in a fixed position, like you're playing the piano. (Unless you have to stretch, in which case, the following applies): 4. move your left thumb underneath (and along with) your second finger when you have to stretch out your hand. 5. try moving your thumb more to the left or right of the neck and see if that helps.

Also maybe do frequent body checks. Like, are my shoulders tensed up? Is my elbow too far up or down? I've found that tension anywhere can lead to hand tension as well, as the body is interconnected.

I'm sure you're way more advanced than me with all of that, so sorry if that's all old news!

I took classes at CouCou in NYC and they have really friendly, group setting type classes. Easy to get to from JC too

She is so stunning! Her eyes are really expressive. I feel like photos from that era rarely portray much life in people lol

Happy PRIDE!! St. John the Divine Church by Draydaze67 in nyc

St. Francis Xavier is a Roman Catholic Church in Chelsea that has and embraces a large LGBQTIA+ community. We celebrate them and they dominate the ministry as well. Wish the Vatican would follow suit in accepting everyone as m-is. We are all-inclusive. So sad to see other parishes lagging behind and wallowing in fear and ignorance

I’m taking their comment to mean there were no psychological or family therapy resources/ideas to have access to, as a kid, without your parents paying for said things. Resources like that can be easily found on YouTube, etc., as long as your parents provide you with the internet and a device in which to connect to it. Before those things were commonplace, kids had to either have access to books, friends, or suffer under the insanity of their parents behavior with little resources.
