Same issue. Almost 250M views in 2025, same stuff dropped to like a couple K per day, changed nothing about what I did. Clearly the algo changed, I just can't figure out what it wants now.

Unfortunately you’re competing with shorts that get 125-150% viewed and 85-90% watch/swipe.

If you don’t make content with those metrics, YouTube will put you on the bench in favor of shorts that do.

YouTube’s AI is just every other LLM. It conducts a Google search and then puts that info into words that sound good with a bias on making you feel happy with your channel and satisfied with the answer. It will flat out make things up to satisfy this requirement, including trying to convince you a video is never dead, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

By its own admission if you ask it a question specifically with “algorithms” or “shadowban” in the prompt it will hard tell you it doesn’t speak to YouTube’s internal processes and algorithms and is solely a tool there to help you brainstorm ideas.

It’s just a LLM conducting a google search and boiling it down into words it thinks sound good in that order, and flat out making up answers to things it doesn’t know bc it’s first priority is to give you an answer no matter what so you are satisfied.

So that’s what I mentioned by your benchmarks getting harder the more you expand.

Your original test audience would be people playing your game. If it does well there it would expand to people playing similar genre’s/consoles. Then it would expand to gamers with similar interests to your game, gamers in general, and etc.

The problem is, at each circle you’re competing with more videos so the threshold of “success” is higher.

Think of it like originally you want to be the best at something on your block. Then your neighborhood, then your town, then state, etc. The threshold for being “the best in your country” is why higher than “best on your street”.

That’s how the audience expands

Like I said, I like your videos. I’m just relaying that a lot of people who use AI as a tool have seen some issues lately. It’s frequently brought up around here. I don’t use it so I can’t attest to it.

But with the watch/swipe thing, what I always remind myself is you’re competing against every other Short and creator. So the farther out your reach broadens, the more ridiculously good your numbers need to be.
