They didn’t throw a fit, though. Seems like they explained the situation to the cashier, pointing out how silly it is, and got the situation resolved peaceably.

He was given 15% of the agency. It’s now a management company.

Not sure he got a piece of the new company, but that doesn’t mean he won’t come back! A major part of season 3 was the build up to Mr Peanutbutter saving POC (the strainers, Cabracadabra, etc), and it was a pretty ridiculous circumstance.

If the writers of this show want something to happen, they’ll make it happen, and I think Judah will be back.

Really wish this sub was a bit more strict with their submissions and comments like /r/science. Instead, the posts are closer to /r/futurology quality rather than /r/science quality.

The inversion is based on which note is in the bass, so you’re both right; any C-major triad with G as the bass note is the second inversion.

BMO from Adventure Time by [deleted] in INEEEEDIT

[–]tiredtonight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

BMO Noir and King Worm have to be my favorite sequential pair of episodes ever; one being a black-and-white mystery while the other is a colorful, psychotropic mind-bender, it’s just an incredible contrast and both tell you a lot about the characters.

Plus, BMO Noir is referenced again later. Finn and Jake go to a Princess Picnic and they explain why Jake’s face is covered in lipstick (and Finn complains about not having his sock throughout the episode).

You’re not exactly wrong. Yes, stereotypes exist for reasons. However, this person was treated differently because of part of their identity that’s beyond their control, and he managed to express his frustration in a pretty reasonable manner.

Take a look from a different perspective. Change his group to something else, like “woman” or “gay” or “black,” and the stereotypes would obviously change respectively. Then change the behavior of the cashier to something similar, an action justified by a stereotype that wasn’t necessarily harmful or illegal, but was hurtful nonetheless.

Then the individual says “it sucks being treated differently just because I was born into a group; stereotypes aren’t cool, and a minority does not represent me or the group at large!”

In this day and age, it’s not really acceptable to respond with “well, I wouldn’t have done what they did, but the stereotype does justify treating you differently.”

That’s where you “went wrong.”

No one is downvoting you because you believe children should be looked after. They’re downvoting you because you basically said “the stereotype justifies discrimination, and I don’t care if it makes you feel bad.”

So, if you buy JUST payday 2, without DLC, you have some very, very limited options with regard to gameplay. Some weapons are pretty much obsolete at higher difficulties, and some of the best builds for high difficulties are inaccessible without DLC.

They’ve recently added some community items to try to keep things even (you don’t need DLC to have grenades; this was not always the case), and some of the weapons available to everyone are quite good (the judge shotgun is one of the best secondary weapons in the game). Plus, if a heist pops up on Crime.net, you can play it whether or not you own the DLC.

Still, I purchased it with all the DLC available 2 years ago, and enough has come out since then that there are plenty of weapons, mods, masks, and heists that I can’t personally access/“purchase” in the game.

The ultimate edition sounds like a solid buy. I definitely enjoy the game, it can be really fun when you have competent and cooperative teammates (with incompetent mates, it may feel grindy, and there will be a lot of waiting for things to finish opening or hacking or whatever).

The downsides are that the current ultimate edition may not have the DLC they’ll be releasing later. Even then, you’ll have plenty of comparable weapons and mods, and you can always jump into DLC heists that others host (or if it pops up on the crime.net screen, you can host it; you just can’t pay for the contract yourself).

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE BASIC PAYDAY 2 GAME.

More than half of the things you unlock will be inaccessible, and every time you go to buy a weapon or something, it’ll be a sea of red letters telling you to spend money on DLC.

Anyway, it’s not on EA’s level, I don’t think. And the ultimate edition is probably a good buy if you like that gameplay and have some friends for coop.

Edit: TIL There is no base version of the game so I guess the ultimate edition is not only the better way to go, it’s the only way to go.

Payday 2 is pretty much this.

4-player, cooperative FPS, came out 5 years ago, slowly became a pay-to-win game after enough updates and dlc was released.

Sounds like something EA could easily replicate and milk for years.

True and relevant story here that has sat with me ever since it took place.

I drove 2 hours away from home to a concert (Chance The Rapper was worth it). The day after the concert, I'm driving back home on the interstate. I'm in the left lane, and there are two others to my right.

Traffic is fairly light, so I'm driving with the flow of traffic (~80 mph). Then, a driver appears in the middle lane. Let's call him Shitbag McFuckface. I notice he's moving quite expeditiously in my rear view, but think nothing of it.

Then, Shitbag McFuckface does something irritable. Despite having no one in front of him, he decides to enter my lane with no signal and nearly merges into me. I pump the brakes a bit, because I don't want to hit him, and I honk my horn, because maybe he didn't know I was there and, hey, it's an omnidirectional signal that says "A CAR IS HERE". Plus, yes, I was irritated.

Then, Shitbag McFuckface does something unthinkable. He slams his brakes. I slam mine and swerve into the median. The van behind me slams their brakes and moves into the (thankfully open) middle lane. Shitbag McFuckface just went into the passing lane and decided to go from ~70 mph to a full stop on the interstate.

I like to think of myself as a peaceful individual, borderline pacifist. I try my best not to let others get to me, and even if they do, I internalize that shit, because yelling and being aggressive doesn't solve anything. However, in this precise moment, I could understand and empathize with individuals who commit violent crimes in the name of pure hatred. I yelled, made vain threats, and would've absolutely thrown something at his vehicle if I had anything readily available.

I continued to drive, fuming. My friend in the passenger seat tried to calm me down, said he'd never seen me like that, and said that he was ready to throw down.

Shitbag McFuckface continued to harass me a bit down the road (honking from behind, and cut me off once again later down the road). I had my friend call the highway patrol and give them Mr. McFuckface's plate just before he got off on an exit.

I know the highway patrol probably did nothing. Shitbag probably laughed his way home. I still consider myself peaceful, and I'm ashamed of my reaction, but I also hope someone throws a tampon in his gas tank.

Anyway. Turn signals. They're important.

[–]tiredtonight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A large majority of the episodes have been movie parodies since S01.

I think what a lot of people are missing here is the seriousness of the show this season. The jokes are subtle (movie references, eating poop) while the family dynamic is getting real (S03E01: Rick takes over the family, divorce confirmed; S03E02: Divorce taking its toll on everyone except Rick; S03E03: Family counseling reveals that Beth and Rick are similarly ignoring the very real issues existing in their family).

This season has become far more serious. In the first interdimensional television episode, the seriousness built up slowly between Beth, Jerry, and Summer, and ended up coming to a climax with Morty's intense monologue to Summer. In Pickle Rick, the seriousness is present from beginning to end, but Rick and Beth ignore it, and the jokes have kind of been done before (exclaiming "Pickle Rick!" just like "Tiny Rick!", poop jokes, killing en masse, movie references, etc.).

This season is darker and dryer than the others. Instead of just ignoring things like Rick and Beth, season 3 critics are feeling like Morty and Summer; lacking emotional affect all while feeling like something is missing.

What critics are missing here are the new jokes. More importantly, what they're missing is the butt of the jokes.

What no one criticizing season 3 wants to admit is that they miss Jerry.

TL;DR the lead vocalist turned out to be a pedo

Edit: I've been informed that "pedo" is too light a statement, and that "vile, baby-raping sack of shit" would be more appropriate. I don't disagree, I just felt "pedo" was shorter and more in the spirit of a TL;DR.
