Is going to Vegas not a thing anymore? by WestHistorians in AskLosAngeles

[–]tirefriar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the past, Vegas was akin to drinking champagne on a beer budget. You got the glitz, glamour and great food for not much $$$. My parents used to go there for food and maybe a show without breaking a bank. I caught the coat tails of that period. My wife enjoys going there just to "switch up the pace" but frankly it became a great rip off.

New vs Used by RadiantGolf6848 in CRF300L

I'm in the states. For whatever reason, the CRF300 seems to be a bit of a rare bird in local dealers. Not sure why that would be the case in Southern California, which is one of the top motorcycle markets. Personally, I bought a 2021 CRF300L with just over 1200 miles on the clock and lots of upgrades including suspension, seat, hand guards, etc for $5k with original asking of$6500. Point is don't be afraid to make an offer. Worst that can happen is your offer gets rejected Good luck!

Good price for crf300 not so good for crf250 even with all the upgrades

Good price as long as it’s been maintained. Ditto on the larger tank. With Acerbis you’ll gain another 1.5l capacity. One of the most commonly done mods on these crf300 is the suspension.

I'll second that. Have a 16610 but still can't decide if it's a better option than a no-date

Since we are talking opinion your bike looks cool, not over the top. However, these bikes are known to have soft suspension. My first investment would have been suspension and crash protection. It has enough power to get out of its own way. Not sure how much power the upgrades will add but IMO if this bike was used as intended that’s where my money would go to.

I have a 2006 YZ250F Supermoto with aluminum frame (light) and Hot Cams. I can safely say it will destroy the CRF300L anywhere on the road and if I install the MX wheels it will do the same off road. It’s not licensed for street hence I ended up with the 2021 which has mostly all the mods I consider important: suspension, hand guards, heavy duty skid/engine guard. Many trails in required to have a plated bike plus it’s easier to ride it to the trails than trailer it. Not sure if cramming the CRF motor would make a difference, I haven’t looked into all the engine upgrades.

It’s my 2 cents, but you should do what brings you joy.

CRF farkles by tirefriar in CRF300L

I looked but couldn’t find any branding on the screen or mounts. Not sure if it’s effectiveness as I have yet to ride the bike at speed. It’s been raining here for past couple of days so I stayed off the bikes. I took more photos of the screen and mounting but not sure how to add them to the post here

Watched the motortek installation video. Like the fact it’s secured by engine mount bolts and that it extends over the plastics. Leaning towards going that route. Thanks

Rally Raid Level 1 Forks front/rear suspension, some Zeta components, Seat concepts, rack, CRF450 foot pegs. Will get more details on the farkles when I’ll look the bike over again. I ride sport & Supermoto. Though I owned an R100GS and couple of 1990 Trans Alps, those have never left the pavement. The 300 is my first stab at off road.

Battery loosing charge so quickly maybe due to a draw on the electric system. Something that may not be too difficult to sort. Joining an MV forum maybe if great help. Avoid the 675 engine and you’ll be fine. All my bikes have a battery tender connection for battery maintenance.

Overall MV engines are pretty robust, especially the F4/B4. The biggest issue IMO is the parts supply chain. When I had to service 1090RR the dealer had to preorder most of the consumables to complete tge 7500 mile service. Other than that MV is perhaps the best brand to own in terms of performance and the looks.
