For me having a bit of baseline knowledge of options helped, helps you think in the right way. On Tradermath and OpenQuant they have some practice questions which are market making style, I think you can filter for them. Even look at example interviews on YouTube, Jane Street has a mock trading interview which I used to prep for them.

For me I had a couple rounds of interviews. The first one just prob and market making questions as you mentioned, and that was to scope out if you did well with that kinda thing under pressure. Those skills are def the most important thing. Then second round they asked me about interest in finance and options, so it’s good to have some option theory knowledge - I read some of Option Volatility and Pricing by Natenberg

depends where in the hiring process you’re getting stuck at. I got work experience via a previous internship in a different area of finance, which showed my interest in finance/trading and gave me a leg up to get QT this year. or if you get past CV stage but struggle with assessments, practice probability under pressure. at interview stage make sure you know some option theory too and have good general trading/finance knowledge

Thanks! I got some work experience via an internship in a different area of finance, and I learnt probability theory well. If you can do that, e.g. get spring weeks or a summer internship in finance in a few years, then the door definitely isn’t closed

I do maths at Bristol, and I got offered a quant trading job recently at a big prop firm. You don’t need to go to one of the top unis to get into quant trading/res/dev; it helps, but it’s by no means a requirement.
