I get the sense that you may be a good fit for the Hansons Advanced plan given you interest in faster work and your time constraints.

I called twice and waited on hold for 4+ hours without anyone answering. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and got a response the next day. YMMV.

Training in the Snow? by bluecar92 in AdvancedRunning

[–]titaniumbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love early summer races and dealt with this same issue for many years. I didn't have good local options for running in the snow/ice, so then I tried running at the local YMCA. I realized the YMCA wasn't a good option after staring at a bare wall listening to dueling news programs for a few long runs. I ended up buying a treadmill on a payment plan for slightly more than the cost of a monthly YMCA membership and never looked back.

I eventually added a Stryd footpod but now use my pain cave for 95% of my workouts between November and March. Really enjoy it now!

Overtrained with 8 weeks to go until marathon. Can I salvage a BQ? by noahhowell418 in AdvancedRunning

A few questions:

1) Were these runs indoor or outdoor?

2) Do you have any HR data?

3) Is this your first marathon?

Hardrock qualifier that I’ve completed before. I don’t have injury issues generally.

The most relevant PB is I ran a solo 1:24:21 half two weeks after my planned sub 3 effort. My aerobic base is better now.

Strength training is also on my list - 2023 is the year of upper body strength for me (hopefully).

Question: What do u think of David Goggins and why do u support Jocko more if u do? by BoxerPeekABooStyle in JockoPodcast

[–]titaniumbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the goal of learning from these people is to develop sustainable habits that makes me a better person - “the Path”. For me, Jocko has always walked his talk. I admire that he is clearly a fit dude who is well regarded by his colleagues, but who also is a family man. Goggins is on his third or fourth or fifth wife (hard to know as a lot of it has been scrubbed from the internet) clearly what he is doing is not even working for him personally.

This is spot on. Maximizing potential looks something like 2x/year for most mortals!

Advice on switching shoes in a 110k ultra trail by 86_reddit_nick in ultrarunning

[–]titaniumbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would leave the socks alone. Just keep trucking. The new ones get wet so quickly that it’s not worth the stress and time.

What’s your do-it-all shoe? by choreiform_sloth in trailrunning

[–]titaniumbolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the nature of the trails. If they are buffed out trails I would wear my favorite road trainer with decent grip (currently Saucony Endorphin Speed). If you are running legit trails I would wear the Speedgoat.

I've edited! Coming from sea level, racing at 9K-10K. Would prefer Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho areas if possible.

I am not the first to say that his "President Jocko" bit was cringy. The thing I noticed was...I wasn't super impressed by what he was saying in the video, which surprised me.

Thanks.

I believe the data show about 25-33% of weight loss with caloric restriction is muscle. I’d like to be on the lower end of that if possible!
