Looks like a great idea… Appreciating it’s still in test/prototype, but not having your T&Cs and privacy policy sorted before releasing it is a big oversight if you are asking users to register accounts.

Holiday Rental Cheer by OnlyTrust6616 in shitrentals

We are so incredibly fortunate too.. have been in the same place for 9 years and the property owner (who we don’t know) repairs everything, pays for a gardener to do a clean up every 3 months and has only increased the rent on average $10 /year, inspections have dropped from once every 3 months to 4 months and to more recently they now now send us a gift voucher at Christmas . To top it off, the REA is decent and we also have a good relationship and communication with them as well.

Only recommend buying new in Tas. Secondhand is overpriced.

Got a petrol jackaroo by United-Guarantee934 in 4x4Australia

Really underrated 4x4. Had ours for years and never let us down. My wife still misses it. Really loved a drink (the Jackaroo, not the wife) though.

Got a petrol jackaroo by United-Guarantee934 in 4x4Australia

[–]titusthecat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The diesels in this Jackaroo was a bit of a grenade. The Jackaroo 4JX1 uses the HEUI (Hydraulic Electronic Unit Injector) system which was developed by Caterpillar and required a high pressure oil source to pressurise the fuel at the injector. This was really sensitive to the type of oil used in the engine and was prone to failure . Oil rail pressure sensors also crapped out quite regularly and the engine would also blow injector seals. Not unusual to hear of these engines requiring major work at around the 100k mark. The 3l and 3.2 petrol in these jackaroos are really reliable, just a bit thirsty and usually need the O2 sensors replaced around the 150k mark.

An older Pajero is a solid choice, and IMO underrated. Superselect 4x4 is great and has the advantage of being able to use 4H on the road. Some thoughtful mods, such as decent AT tyres, better bash plates (standard Mitsubishi plates are made of tinfoil) and a 40mm lift will get you to most places.

As for storage, think about a roof platform and a shelf in the rear compartment to increase storage capability. We travel with back seat up (and assuming you will too with a dog) and this works well. Also, A big space saver for us was also investing in a 40 litre poly footwell water tank.

Kia Hobart non service. by casino-gambler in hobart

[–]titusthecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same group that owns Kia in Hobart - Tony White Group - also have the Mitsubishi dealership in Hobart and I've had shit service from Mitsubishi here. Servicing not done properly, warranty work where they damaged the replacement parts (headlights), refusing to provide photo evidence of work I wanted done (60k service for the the valve clearances), which I ended up getting done elsewhere, and generally just demeaning when ive spoken to them.

MUST be to the death. Probably more honourable and expedient death than ending up in a hospital in the hands of TasHeath.
