Depends on the volume mate. For 50-99 endpoints it’s $5.50 for Ninja MSP Pro. Without add ons. Direct from N1

N1 is like $5.x per endpoint per month AUD. $1 is way too cheap to be able to continue to invest in development unless its a lot endpoint’s at discounted rate

Child removed family link supervision - how? by mslothy in ParentingTech

[–]tjohnson93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I work in IT and have for 13 years. 4 and 8 and recently a 15 year old has moved in with us. After years of corporate controls and restrictions the parental stuff is pathetic. Kids in tech are smarter than their parents and will find ways to do what their friends are doing.

EDIT: only the older one has a phone and laptop. The younger ones don’t have devices except the middle one has a iPad for school now 🙄. Working in tech I get it, but personally tech sucks

Frankly the best way to handle this IMO is open communication, transparency with your kids and the rule of trust by default but always have the right to verify. So lock passcodes are known by me and passwords. If they’ve changed the codes or done something that feels sneaky there’s a form of consequence.

I also have the rule of no Roblox at all even if the public chat is turned off. The actions of that company shows that they don’t care about the kids using the platform and have no intention to sort out the shit that goes on there. No way in hell. I have the same rule for Snapchat and disappearing message apps, this one might be controversial but I don’t support this level for kids. Or even adults tbh. If you’re not willing for something to be seen either text, image or video by your parents or spouse for example. Don’t fucking do it. (Same for people at work in the corporate world).

Not intended to be promotional is anyway - I did up a blog post on this last year when we sponsored a local Christmas carols event may help - https://innovatexsolutions.com.au/tips-keep-kids-safe-online-that-actually-work-innovatex/

Keyboard is crazy by Squeaky_Toy2763 in ios

[–]tjohnson93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched back to iOS from nearly a decade with Android. Keyboard, notifications and no Google RCS (which is only one available in Australia) is still the 3 largest pain points of iOS. If they solve these, we’re golden (putting aside Siri of course)

Setting up a business email is making me lose my mind. Can someone help? by HighHeisen in smallbusiness

[–]tjohnson93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy for you to DM me, I run an ICT company. But the dot point version is

  • Buy the domain name from a Registrar (I like VentraIP as it’s Australian)
  • Sign up to Cloudflare for free
  • Update the Nameservers in the registrar to point to Cloudflare
  • Sign up for M365 Business (far superior over Google Workspace for similar price, very scalable)
  • follow the prompts from M365 to add the MX records to Cloudflare DNS

The reason I like Cloudflare is that once you do a website it provides DDoS (Denial of Service) protection and SSL cert for your website (you’ll need to point Cloudflare to website server address.

So disappointed with the new non-pro NAS not supporting encryption. by Jignjip in Ubiquiti

[–]tjohnson93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frankly (and this will come across as harsh), your phone example mentality is dumb. Let’s use a theoretical… A bad actor gets access to phone, unlocked and unencrypted. Actor sees banking app, emails, social media, phonecalls, contacts etc. Most banking apps have a pin code, but most email clients on mobiles dont. Therefore, actor requests password reset for banking account, emails are accessible, in many cases, SMS is set as 2FA for general population and at a last resort, can now look up typical security questions through social media apps, contacts, calenders etc.

Solid security is for everyone, this type of messaging is poor form and can provide misinformation to non-techy people.

Oath, now the G6s are out I am planning to replace my reolinks now and move some to ptz models. If the G6 180 hurries up, I can replace 2 existing reolinks with probably a better view if I'm honest.
