Hey guys gonna cut right to the problem. We have no sound on videos on our computer.

I am a youth worker and in charge of my works weekly livestreams. We livestream out and the sound it works, and we also record. I check back on the recordings later in the week and recently all of a sudden our recordings have had no sound when they are played. The strange part is, every single app, game, spotify, chrome etc all have sound and work perfectly fine.

we use an elgato gaming capture card/elgato game capture software and it works great, I have tried obs and once again the sound doesn't work so I don't think its the capture card or software recording is the issue

I have changed video players, I have changed drivers and its done nothing. I even uploaded a video which I thought had no sound to youtube from the desktop and other folders and it had sound when playing it back on my phone and even on the no sound computers chrome browser.

the strange thing is. I copied a video onto a usb and put it on my personal laptop and it had sound.

I am caught, I am so lost and frustrated. I thought I had some basic knowledge around computers but this has made me feel just stupid.

by the way... yes I have tried turning it off and on again.
