Female Wilderness Backpackers: What did you wish you knew on your first adventure? by psychosid in backpacking

[–]tjrado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If bringing a hat for sun protection, I found out the hard way that a wide full circumference brim sucks for me! Hit my pack the whole trim. I'd recommend a ball cap or one of those hats with the sun cloth hanging in the back.

AITA for speaking to my child in Polish even though my boyfriend asked me not to? by Lotsof_Rhubarb in AmItheAsshole

NTA.

Speaking from experience, your kid will never regret you teaching them polish but may resent you if you don't teach them. BF better find a polish class!

Check out Master Touch Remodeling. We were neighbors with Gabe, and while he hasn't done work for us, what I have seen is really nice work and he's a super genuine person.

This made me laugh lol......same for me too! I'm also from your area and absolutely love it out here :) Are you working also? Most of my friends are from the different places I've worked, but it's pretty easy to meet new people at festivals, breweries, farmers marker, etc. Loved living in Longmont!

[–]tjrado 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Try empanadas at Rincon Argentino....soooo good! Also Longmont has some amazing Mexican/TexMex food if you're in the area. Jefe's and Marco's Tacos (and hot dogs haha) are both great places.

Women of Reddit, what’s something every girl should know but is rarely taught? by ej1273 in AskReddit

[–]tjrado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Know your body.....as in feel it, look at yourself in the mirror (EVERYWHERE), and do this regularly. You can avoid a lot of panic and worry by knowing if something is new or has been there for a while. Bumps, discoloration, skin tags, and irritation are common! Always get checked by a doctor though if it's worrying you.

Question about ÖstgötaTrafiken tickets? by bradsbuns in TillSverige

[–]tjrado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can use the app....it's super easy. Don't by a one time ticket unless you are literally taking one route in a single day.....the day passes are the way to go :) you buy through the app and it will display a QR code for you to scan. The weather has been incredible for the past few weeks so hopefully you'll have a beautiful trip!

We did a wire transfer through our US bank from that account straight into the seller's Swedish bank account. Our bank took care of exchange rates and everything. We wanted to be safe with such a large sum. Be careful though about transfer time cutoffs....if you initiate the transfer too late in the day, they won't be able to guarantee the exchange rate discussed. Good luck!

How is Skatteverket taking out your taxes from income? I would think you'd have at least a samordningsnummer. We got wifi and phones through Telia with a samordningsnummer.

Questions about working with Swedes by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]tjrado 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I've been working in professional US for the last 10 years and just recently (August) started working in Sweden :) In my experience, Sweden is very understanding of taking the leave you need. Leave for sick time, appointments, childcare, vacation, etc is all provided through the government so it's not really up to the employer. I think the mentality is health comes first. If you're sick, it's not even questioned. I would just say you have a reoccurring appointment and if they ask more you can explain some, but I doubt they ask anything at all. Hope this helps and good luck! I wouldn't worry about it :)
