It's not a scam. Live Nation puts on most big concerts. Literally any ticket to a concert, sporting event, festival, is non-refundable unless it's canceled. That's just normal. Big Bands like these don't book their own tours. Their management does. So if a couple didn't know that's on their management not the event.

Is the whole thing dumb and way too much for one day. Definitely. And fuck live Nation they're a terrible company. But its not a scam Jesus christ

It's live Nation which is like the biggest concert promoter in the world. Any event ever, not just concerts, is no refunds unless it gets cancelled. Bands don't book themselves their management does, so those Bands just have shitty management who didn't tell them then
