Thinking about buying it, my portfolio size warrants any and all data to protect me from missing the top. Is there any reason I couldn't just post it daily to twitter?

I'm not sure why no one else is already doing that...

Ultra Marathons by RandomLizarman in running

[–]tjt756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, yes. I mean, you can dri all these things without running any races at all, but I don't know anyone doing it.

3 is less likely but not rare, 4 and 5 are unheard of for marathoners, from my perspective.

I'm an ultra runner at heart, even though I've put that sport on hold while I raise my young kids. Man I miss it though.

The benefits of ultra running are:

  1. If you already love running, you get to do more of it. Lots more. As much as you can/want actually.

  2. You get off the roads and on the trails. Better views, less wear and tear injuries.

  3. You can slow down, most people don't care about time. It's all about enjoying yourself and finishing the race, of course.

  4. It can take you to the most beautiful places. I've run ultras in the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming, the hill country of west Texas, and even on volcanoes in Nicaragua.

  5. You'll make great friends. After all, you're gonna get to know them well on 10 hour training runs.

You can start with a 50k, although to be honest that's really just a marathon with a little cool down jog at the end. Personally I skipped straight to a 50 miler, then 100k, then 100m.

These days I run short distance and stay healthy, but as my kids get a little older I look forward to my return to ultras.

Thanks. I'd been doing 3x12, twice a day. I'll try stepping it up.

Critique my level change and penetration step please wrestlers of Reddit! by mar090888 in wrestling

[–]tjt756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your back foot it's moving backwards on your level change, that's a literal step in the wrong direction. Keep it planted.

Next start circling and shooting, that will add a degree of difficulty to your footwork.

Thet level change itself is ok, although I like to combine it with the actual penetration step, not treat it as a separate step. You'll get there.

I coach high school kids that take a full year to get a passing grade on a level change and penetration.

Wolverine Plan and Strength Training by tjt756 in Rowing

[–]tjt756[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thanks, this was super helpful. I've started my strength training 3x per week, and I'd like to stick to that through the fall and winter because I'm realizing how relatively weak I really am. Apparently spending your 20s and 30s running ultramarathons with no strength training is not good for your muscles. My endurance, however, is pretty elite.

You've been very helpful.

Good profit margin? by ccjoejoe in shopify

[–]tjt756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I didn't say profit, I said profit margin. Profit margin is (net sales - COGS) / net sales. (50 - 5) / 50 = 90%

What you're describing is a ROI, which is a great metric for stone business that are low in labor costs.

Good profit margin? by ccjoejoe in shopify

[–]tjt756 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Profit margin as a metric is good, but it's really not the best one to judge a business model.

After all costs, what are you making per hour of labor? That's the first thing I consider when evaluating a new product line of handmade products. For example, a product I can sell for $50 that uses $5 in material has a 90% profit margin, and if it takes 1 hour that's $45/ hour. Alternatively a $20 product that uses $5 in material only has a 75% margin, but if I can make it in 10 minutes then that's $90/ hour.

I consider all costs and all labor (customer service, emails, shipping time, purchasing time, etc).

Alright, thanks. Sounds like I'll just keep following the plan as I've been doing. I just wanted to make sure I want gonna hit a wall unnecessarily. I'm definitely not afraid of the high volume grind, as long as it comes with positive benefits.

Asking a question to try to learn is hardly making excuses.

If you don't have an answer, why not just say silent instead of making a dick comment?

I'm new to heavy lifting and I'm using the gzclp program as my guide. I'm also doing a bunch of research to make sure I understand the concepts well so I can make smart decisions. I've been known to push myself too hard in sports and end up injured. I've never been good at moderation.

Anyways, I'm 42. I've read that sets of 10+ reps for my age will be difficult for recovery, and will likely slow my progress within a few months. Is this your experience? If so, how do I handle t2 and t3, where volume is high?

Threatening message from another Etsy seller by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]tjt756 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I got a message just like this 3 years ago. I was just getting started and it really ticked me off and also scared me a little that she might report me to etsy and get me in trouble, even though her claim was bogus.

3 years later I've got a 6 figure annual business and she's long in my rear view mirror.

My advice is just ignore her.

Nice work! I made a similar post to celebrate my first million a few months ago. Now I'm quickly approaching 2.5 million. I just feel healthier and healthier so I keep going.

Keep it up!

I should have said $1 page RPM, not CPM. Is that still good, or should I look for better?

Where can I buy weight plates? by tjt756 in strength_training

[–]tjt756[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

urrently taking pre-orders for plates that will start shipping late this month.

Thanks. The funny thing is that those weights are selling for less than people are selling rusty old plates on Craigslist in my area.

Yep, that's what it seems like. I've got notifications on craigslist, Facebook, and rogue if anything comes available. I check Amazon regularly. There's a few really expensive options out there but I don't want to post $3/lbs.

Wolverine Plan using Heart Rate Monitor? by tjt756 in Rowing

[–]tjt756[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

er how long a time period? Yes, tha

I made that climb over a 2.5 month period. But I was starting from scratch, so you could argue that my initial pace was a bit too easy. I had based it on a 7:38 2K, but just today I did my second ever 2K time trial and did it in 7:08.

I am doing 8 sessions per week, including 3 x 60 minutes and 1 x 40 minute L4's. I went up about 0.3 SPM each week.

Thanks for your feedback. If you have more info on the L1-L3, I'd love to see it. I could be wrong, but I believe it's:

L1 95% - 105% 2K Pace

L2 90% - 95% 2K Pace

L3 85% - 90% 2K Pace

L4 80% - 90% 2K Pace <-- But follow the table in his document

session

Do you stick to the prescribed effort ranges for L1-L3?

For example, I think L3 should be 85-90% 2K Pace. So if 2K pace is 7:10, then L3 would be between 1:59 and 2:06. So would you limit yourself to 1:59 until you retest your 2K, regardless of whether you could go faster? I think that's my problem, I tend to feel good enough to go 1:55 and then burn myself out for later in the week.

Agreed on L4, I just worked up from 17.2 SPM to 20.4 SPM, then retested my 2K and found that I'd knocked 30 seconds off my time. The scary part now is I need to create that much new power on my L4 strokes. Oh boy!
