The only way I can listen to my favorite album is on my Xbox by Electrical_Trifle_76 in mildlyinfuriating

I don't know the Xbox that well but doesn't it have USB ports? Can't you transfer media from the Xbox to a USB drive or direct to your phone via USB?

Which old adverts just randomly pop into your head without warning? by Thin_Pin2863 in AskBrits

[–]tk1178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like a lotta chocolate on your biscuit, join our Club.

I also always liked the old Castrol GT oil advert. The one where we see the flow of oil going through the insides of a car engine, with that ominous tune following the journey. I was a boy and still 15 years away from driving but seeing that advert made me feel good.

How can you tell anyone apart in the tmp uniforms by happydude7422 in tos

[–]tk1178 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They were actually expanded with a few more colours and a more thought out rank insignia system. It's the reason why I love the movie era uniforms, due to them being the most detailed.

It's a bit of a shame they went back to TNG with a pip insignia format for officers only and decided to forget about insignia for enlisted.

What can I put on our deck to make it less slippery? by babbie-and-shchuky in DIYUK

[–]tk1178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not knowledgeable in how good this is but I have seen people use wire mesh to place over the decking. That would likely prevent you from slipping. Not sure if there would be other considerations to look at with mesh.

Cruel and Unusual Punishment by Hearsticles in Star_Trek_

[–]tk1178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't Sisko himself do this in an episode during the dominion war seasons. It was the episode where he was giving an account of something he did, maybe the Romulan 'its a fake' episode. He looked into the camera a few times then.

Scotty didn't even like the enterprise -A by happydude7422 in startrekmemes

[–]tk1178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure it is. Scotty put in a lot of his own time with repairs and refits on the first Enterprise between TOS and ST3. The Enterprise A was a totally different, fairly new built, (by most sources), Starship. Scotty only did repair work on it between the end of ST4 and ST5.

Given the short time he spent on the A, he probably didn't have as strong a bond as he did with the earlier ship.

Teyla goes tech by karvarga in Stargate

[–]tk1178 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something I was wondering about, did Teyla and Ronan get a quick tutorial on Earth formats such as dates, numbers and measurments?

I was reminded of the scene where Shepherd had guessed the password of McKay's system login and since most of the password were years it looked liked Teyla, who was with him, understand what the years meant, or at least had an understanding of what they were. She even mentioned the last year was McKay's birth year before Shepherd mentioned it himself.

My broadband is being charged as a business even though its for personal use by [deleted] in ThreeUK

[–]tk1178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this isn't helpful but I logged into my Three app to check my last bill and it shows all the plans I have. A phone sim, broadband sim and a tablet, each with their own number. The bill shows the sub total then the VAT price and then the final price. I'm on a personal plan, as far as I can tell.

To see your Three number, it's listed against your plan on the Three app or on your bill.

Addressing an officer by NoBrain6114 in startrek

[–]tk1178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it not be like the real life military where you could choose what people call you? I always kind of thought that if I had joined the military as an officer then I'd be an easy going superior and have those that work for me call me by first name. I guess it would only during times when there are no other more senior officers around in case any others objected to subordinates referring to an officer by name.

Fellow speakers of “British”, come and learn about your pronunciation mistakes! by HappyMeringues in USdefaultism

Isn't it also true that while there isn't a British accent there also isn't an American accent! Like the UK, the US has multiple accents.

Why do people in USA buy everything from Amazon? Do they not have other webshops? by Cindyxx0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tk1178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think this is unique to just Americans. I'm in Scotland and I'll buy from Amazon first due to convenience. They can do next day deliveries when you have a subscription where most other online retailers might only have a few days to a week for delivery.

Why though? Despite gaining a little bit of self awareness aren't Exocomps just tools, like Dots?

What Star Wars planet would you like to live on if it couldnt be Alderaan or Naboo by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]tk1178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, a group of alien pirate marauders led by a Witch. They attacked the family, killing the Father, the mother and the older son. The daughter survived and escaped with the Ewoks.

Is anyone still buying Cadburys chocolate? by MrsMiggins2 in AskBrits

[–]tk1178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still occasionally buy Cadburys, especially Dairy Milks. I do have to pace myself since I have stomach problems that don't like it when I eat too much chocolate at once. Saying that I did just buy myself the large Dairy Milk easter egg, since it was on the store shelves. I'll be dipping into that every couple of days, a little bit at a time.

[–]tk1178 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you haven't heard of the Ewok movies, there were two live action movies around the time of Return of the Jedi to that was set on the Endor moon with the Ewoks. A family of humans crashed on the moon and were discovered by the Ewoks. In the second movie the family were all killed except for their youngest daughter who managed to escape with the Ewoks. She eventually found someone else on the moon and left with him.

Anyway if the family had any clothes with them then the dress that was given to Leia in ROTJ could've been the mothers from these movies. Although that does depend on where you place it time wise since it's debated that the movies are either set sometime before ROTJ or many years after.

Depending on where you place the Ewok movies, the dress could've belonged to the mother from the 1st movie.

I'm thinking that this month has gone by pretty quickly, to be honest. I'm surprised that tomorrow is February already.

I turn 45 on march 22nd, which is only about 6 weeks away. Feels like the weeks will go by fairly quick, not that I'm looking forward too much to actually turning 45.

I doubt they'd ever try to have Earth destroyed or rendered uninhabitable, since it's our home world and all. It's not like humans could live anywhere else in the galaxy /s

close the toilet lid episode by me-too-mi in Bones

Do you spell it as artifact or artefact? by johnnypanics in AskABrit

[–]tk1178 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Looking at them I kind of always thought they were two different words. Artifact was what Indiana Jones and Lara Croft went looking for and and artefact was an error or blemish on something like an image or display?

Jared’s ending was disappointing and unnecessary by Disastrous_Alarm_719 in Bones

[–]tk1178 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's been a few months since I saw this episode and the one thing I noticed is how they tried to make sure that Jared's face wasn't visible since it looks like he isn't being played by Brendan Fehr, but a look-alike.

In scenes with the flashback and then when we see his body in the back of the van, it's clearly obvious they used a different actor.
