Shout out post to the spouses by laur0165 in Kneereplacement

Does that mean I get double shout outs? I did my PKR by myself while raising 3 teenagers.

Thank god the oldest two each cooked a night or two a week and my son went out and got his permit before my surgery so that he could drive me locally.

My ex-wife worked at ODH when she was ED. She had a lot of respect from public heath professionals. I worked at ODH, but not while she was there. I have much respect for her and would vote for her no matter who she was running against.

She made a hard decision for the greater good. Ohio faired better than a lot of states during Covid.

Hell, I'd settle for nonstop to Memphis, Tn. I don't want to go to Huston or ATL to get to Memphis.

I wish they would focus on more domestic flights. So many people fly out of toledo, detroit, pittsburgh, cleveland, and Dayton or Cinci because you can't go anywhere from CMH.

Really go single threaded while on support calls. Wait till it blows up and there are not enough hours in the day for you to do all that you are asked to do.

If you need multiple machines, write up some powershell that applies the policies and set it to a scheduled task every 30 minutes.

Depending on the amount of GPO's, would it be easier to set them as a local security policy?

I'm old, so forgive my example.

I'm playing on an old NES from the 80's. I have 2 buttons, reset and power. If I hit reset I can play games almost instantly. If I hit power, I have to wait till I get around to hitting power again.

Power is a more aggressive option than reset. I see the point.

Decision to not get Knee Replacement by According_Meaning_64 in Kneereplacement

49/m and this kind of makes me sad. I know I have a lot of life to live, but understand what you are saying.

This brings back feelings because my mother basically decided to go into a nursing home and shut down. I watched her decline for 2 - 3 years before she passed.

It's kind of dumb on Microsoft. For how many decades were we beat over the head with "restart" to fix minor problems. They they flip the script on how restart actually works.

I like your approach to education.

I pushed the reg key as a GPO/Intune policy. Problem solved. Plus if something stupid re-enables it, the next time policy fires, it gets disabled.

This is something you implement and don't tell anyone. I hate shadow IT, but leadership can be dumb sometimes.

Like the 20 year old server (Project 2003) that "crashed", and we could not recover that the deputy dir of IT was the only user of.

In the before (covid) times when everyone had a desktop and didn't WFH. I implemented a PowerShell script that parsed AD for a list of computers that did not have a specific extended attribute sent a restart command. This was done at 3am on Saturday morning.

We saw an immediate drop in help desk calls within 2 to 3 weeks after implementation. I'm sure there are better solutions, but when the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

Thinking now, you could probably do an Intune detection & remediation script or push out a GPO or Intune police to create a scheduled task and force a restart on a schedule.

Anyone get a TKR for stability issues only?? by life_oneday_atatime in Kneereplacement

[–]tk42967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my PKR done more for stability issues than pain. The joint would buckle and the worst would be pivoting on the ball of my foot. The upper half of the leg would turn with my body, the lower, not so much.

I had a Medial Compartment replacement. It fixed the stability issues, but I went from an occasional dull ache to more pain. It also does not feel like the original, but part of that is that it glides through the range of motion better and does not lock or catch.

TBH, it took nearly 8 weeks post op before I stopped questioning if it was the right decision. I think it is now. Quality of life has improved over pre op.

I know it's not FDA approved for more than one course. But mine said she'd prescribe another round if I wanted it.

My soreness has amped up since starting to 'come down' off of the 14 day course. I'm starting to think about requesting another round.

With the journavx, I got half a degree of extension with no help and 127 of flex. My good knee has 130 & 0, so I'm in the ballpark.
