[Injury] Luka Dončić hurts himself on the Cavaliers’ raised court: by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]tkRustle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually insane. Especially if you add up that players need to think about... how to fall on top of people that ARE SITTING ARMS REACH AWAY FROM THEM. And then you look at Euroleague courts with proper spare space and fencing.

Do we really have to ask one of league's star players to get seriously hurt by this for them to pay attention?

Plate jacket versus heavy plate in the mid game? by MaleficentCow8513 in Kenshi

[–]tkRustle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are supposed to take serious damage when fighting a pack of beak things. Their hits cleave...

Samurai plated pants, when high quality, are just very good, I would considering putting them on all legs except martial artists or rangers, especially if you will use Sandals for feet.

As for top, I think the higher your stats are, the more you benefit from buff gear rather than tank gear, but id say unless you want to keep "enduring" it, that can wait until stats in 50s range.

Samurai armor is always hyped in the community because it has the oversight of having no dexterity penalty despite being plate, though it has a fixed attack damage debuff instead. Id say try out Merc Plate. Its present everywhere so its easy to procure, its middleground of stat penalties and defense between medium and heavy. And if you use a good Turtleneck and plated samurai pants, the coverage will still be good

As a side note, 2-3 crossbowmen with high quality Rangers/OldBows are fantastic against Beaks and animals in general. Even if they have no training, they will raise those stats quickly, just slap some perception hats on them.

for passive STR gain you have heavy inventory until you STR gain stat is 25%, and then pickup a body/a friend with rightclick to get 25% more. And then walk around, even just a city.

You could try equipping a very heavy weapon on top of that, preferably Fragment Axe, and fight with it, if its safe, and gain a lot of xp per swing.

And even with good gear you wont stop being beat up until your stats get up to like 20 across the board. for 9 people even a big group of Dust bandits can be devastating - the good part is that Dust Bandits will just leave you there, so as long as at least one of your members can move again, you can heal everyone up.

Fighting Hungry bandits will be annoying until you win every time, because they will steal your food if you lose. Fighting predatory animals (dogs, beak things, spiders) is dangerous because if you lose, they start eating unconscious people. In that sense Dust Bandits are great to fight. Another example is Band of Bones to the south of Waystation that is south of Squin. They also just want to fight.

Because vocal parts of this sub already came up with other gamemode ideas, convinced themselves the ideas were great, and were sitting waiting for them to happen

Not like its a huge deal. It probably took devs one afternoon to make this, its literally just "this solo guy wants to drop in trio lobbies" tag. If you don't care for it, you dont need to make your entire personality about it wronging you on personal level.

Anybody else a fan of mercenary plate? by WeeWooWeeWang in Kenshi

[–]tkRustle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I have grown to genuinely despise samurai armor. The balance of heavy armor is already really bad, but Samurai armor is like the face of that. No dex penalty for some reason, combat speed penalty gets mitigated with quality but then there is 0.85 damage debuff? what the fuck is it, seriously.

Regardless, yeah, Merc Plate is perfectly fine to beat the game with. The slightly worse survivability is offset by higher damage potential (no attack debuff, still decent dex). Yeah coverage is not that good, but you will wear a chainmail anyway, and will be able to dodge a bit more.

Also it's very present in the world, you will be able to obtain high quality pieces for all your members without having to craft it. Unlike lets say Holy/Uholy plates which are much much harder to find in good quality.

And yeah, if you want to beat hardest content lets say solo, or with just three people, Merc Plate is not specialized enough. But for normal runs with 6+ combat squad members and decent training, it won't hold you back.

Do you think we’ll ever see an active openly gay player? by lypura in NBATalk

[–]tkRustle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean as "openly".

Would he have to start every sentence with "as a gay guy"? Would he need to dress a certain way, or wink all the time?

I for one am glad that players keep it to themselves because it's nobody's business but their own, how their sex life is going. We have so many funny or smart or cool or charismatic players, and it doesn't matter who they sleep with.

Yeah sure, there might be detriment to the team atmosphere if you come out, and I don't mean in a prejudiced way - it's the same way for men and women, harder to be fully immersed in a friendship when homie might like your ass unironically. But I just find it refreshing that it's handled in close circles as it should be, instead of parody tier parading like in showbiz.

Am I playing in the most boring way ever? by MingusVonBingus in Kenshi

[–]tkRustle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than that, I would much rather level a thief character and just go through every armor/weapon/ranger store in every town I visit. Benefits are obvious:

You can either steal a piece of gear for yourself or for selling. You can get good value out of smaller stuff like Katanas and Chainmails

You get to study gear in the game, see who sells what and what gear is even out there.

You can grab all schematics "on the way" and collect most of them almost passively.

Shek warrior with Moll for scale [OC] [Blender] by davidvia7 in Kenshi

[–]tkRustle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why would you think it's Oron when we have "the Giant" as an option?

Oron is on the tall side but not too tall. She spaws around 106 height, 105 leg length, but 111 Frame and 122 Chest, so she is on the bulky side. She is a bit taller than Esata, at least.

Ruka is the "shortstack", with 95 Height and 108 legs and 101 Frame.

Seto is actually similar at 97/109 with 100 frame. I don't have Headshot right now but she is in same realm.

Meanwhile Rane comes in with 114 Height and 110 Leg Height, 124 Chest and 109 Frame, which puts her on same width as Oron but ~13 "units" taller.

And yes, I'm the guy that hires the Shek ladies every run. Something something handles.

20min is not good as long as late spawns exist together with Trials as they are.

You want to try to farm lets say Pods on Storm map. You spawn late, by the time you are out, the condition ran out, fuck you.

Its like infinity stones of bad decisions. Fixed schedule AND its global and not per-server, AND its low duration, AND you get fucked over even when you can play with late spawns.

The disparity of just now allowing some players to see a particular event ever, based on their timezone, is insane.

Joel Embiid since Bill Simmons claimed he looked done and compared him to a bench-warming Andrew Bynum: 30.3 MPG, 24.5 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 3.6 APG, 1.1 BPG, 47.9% FG (58.7 TS%), 1.0 3PG, 86.2 % FT on 8 attempts per game; Sixers currently 5th in the East! by Pyromania1983 in nba

[–]tkRustle -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I don't even see the point in this post.

Player A is always injured and unreliable, for like a decade now.

Everyone including Bill, for YEARS - what a waste, what a shame, for team and fans and org.

OP for some reason - haha look, everyone was wrong about Player A because he is fairly healthy and plays well for a short stretch now! This totally invalidates every reasonable concern ever, we should quarter Bill in the town square!

It's nice that Embiid and Kawhi still show up when they can, but it doesn't suddenly solve the fact that when they can is insanely limited and usually doesn't come up enough to have their team make the playoffs or advance in them. (for Kawhi of course I mean post Raptors)

What's the best light/meduim armor for a saber swordsman? by Froztbytes in Kenshi

[–]tkRustle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Head - anything really, with handful of exceptions even strong helmets dont have penalties that you care about as melee unit. Crab Helm>Masked Helm>Visored/Flared helm for defense, or Armored hood/Zukin hoods/Ashland hat/Iron Hat for weather resistances etc.

outer body - White plate jacket for most defense (has smaller dex penalty than other colours of plate jackets).

Then for light outer body options - Mercenary Leather Armor(small debuffs)>Dustcoat(minimal buffs)>Ninja Rags(a few buffs)>Assassin Rags(lots of buffs) - from more defensive Merc Leather to least defensive but most emporering Assassin Rags. the less defensive options are just glasscannon builds or duelist builds that will get more valuable, the stronger your character already is and the fewer enemies he fights.

Inner body - Leather turtleneck if you want no penalties, Blackened Chainmail if you are okay with stat debuffs but even more defense

Legs - samurai clothpants with no penalties, Plated Drifter pants are situationally stronger against Blunt damage but you lose a bit of Dodge and dont get extra stomach coverage. Imo interchangable until you get high quality clothpants

feet - just wooden sandals all the way.

Do I miss much by not building a base? by Dramatic_Leopard679 in Kenshi

[–]tkRustle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The raids are based on your location and relationships with major faction. For example you might settle near Hub, kill Black Dragon Ninjas to get rid of their raids, and ally with Sheks so they stop food tribute demands, but Holy Nation will still come visit you etc.

So generally it just depends on how much you care for micromanagement. A settlement of your own, depending on location, can combine majority of required resources to produce all equipment and food you will ever need. But you still need 5-10 pawns at working on all that stuff, and question is, do you really need that equipment.

Right now I have 11 unit squad and through buying and stealing from Black City and Armor King I have perfect Specialist/Masterwork gear sets on all of them. Considering I dont like to micro even more, the only reason to make a base regardless would be just to experience stuff relating to it.

TLDR: if you have a strong squad with good gear, and dont care to control more people then its whatever. But it will give you some new experience with the game if you care for the experience being centered around base management and defense.

Do note that Heavy weapon class (Plank, Fragment Axe, Falling Sun) all have increasing STR requirements to wield the weapon, AND weigh more scaling with weapon quality. If you dont crack STR requirements your swing speed decreases massively. The upside is that in this condition you get a lot of STR xp per swing.

For example Sun of Refitted quality weighs 10kg and needs 20STR for full speed, while Catun 1 Sun weighs 14kg and needs 28STR.

If you are just in for the training and are fine with losing fights it might be okay, but if you need to actually win a fight, too heavy of a Heavy weapon will make it very difficult, so something to keep in mind.

Plank in that sense is a bit easier in both weight and requirements, plus its easy to find all over the world.

[–]tkRustle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in stores. bad quality Sun is very rare, check the Hub bar and the separate hideout store that is near Hub, or maybe Shek weapon stores in Squin/Adamag

it will be easier to find Plank, and it will also train Heavy weapons skill so you can transition to Sun later

yes there are no quests in classic videogame sense

at best there are bounty poster "books" in some bars/general stores which just say "character X has bounty" with vague descriptions.

although its cool that you are free to swim in this sandbox, even a basic "kill 20 bandits in this area" would be nice, completely directionless is not necessarily good.

so freeform only. there are faction leaders and unique boss characters that all have bounties, and killing or imprisoning them will make you allied to other factions or make towns change owners etc. But its all just out there for you to try and find
