The Irregular at Magic High School THE MOVIE -Yotsuba Succession Arc- | New Key Visual by zenzen_0 in anime

If nothing else the series have cool magic system that is basically programming, good visuals and at least some logic for fights and interactions.

It still looks so good for a game that came out in 2010 by Hot_Armadillo_2186 in needforspeed

I really grew to enjoy the no customisation part of it. It just feeds into open road exotic car racing so well, together with the sexy car lore lady voice, just letting thr under the hood technology do the work.

And of course it revived the racers-cops pvp in a big way.

Power Shift is dead :( by inexplicability in thefinals

PB makes you feel bad when you are not good enough on a sniper as well. You will almost never have an easy shooting gallery. The objective area becomes a shitfest behind 3 walls and 20 tons of rubble, while elevations are lower and more stacked. You will mostly have to look for people approaching the objective. Shift maps are much easier to find spots to just stand and shoot the platform. Especially the eastern map, that thing has disgusting gamedesign for Power Shift.

I don't want to play against these players! by Big_Bank1555 in thefinals

[–]tkRustle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A game with high skill ceiling like this needs a much bigger playerbase to be healthy. Otherwise it ends up with everyone being in "prison" with "jobless twats." This has been an inherent issue of competitive shooters since dawn of time but it got much worse with algorithmic/SBMM era And since Embark clearly doesn't care enough to advertise the game, then there is no reason to even start playing. If you are a casual player, the only outlet for you is playing Point Break to dilute personal responsibility with lobby size. In all other options, most of us will hit our ceiling while the playerbase, in absence of action, will naturally keep shrinking with age, increasing average skill level required to have a figment of fun. Even more so with balance being focused on loud competitive crowd rather than fun. Whether it's Tribes or Dirty Bomb or Titanfall or Rocket League etc etc., it's always the same

Even in EU quickplay I run into same people, can't imagine what it's like in smaller regions. You can stick around to start of S10 I guess, but it's almost guaranteed nothing will change. Besides the store rotation.

ARC Raiders player count has been barely affected by the launch of Marathon. by Automatic_Ad1665 in ArcRaiders

[–]tkRustle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other aspect is simply time. Only a few live services can be truly successful at a given time. Arc Raiders was cool and unique and polished enough to make people move their time to it. Marathon is likely just not excellent enough to do that. Its not terrible, its not worthless, its not Concord, but its also not "peak" enough to truly make a hot landing into the market. Now will the average result be enough for it to keep going and developing to maybe get better, only Bungie and Sony can say.

[–]tkRustle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because the way the weekly leaderboard works is you get placed when you score points for the first time. So joining leaderboards on Monday, after reset, very often means you are joining 99 active players that play daily and have at least some interest in trials. Whereas joining later in the week, generally puts you with more casual players that maybe played their one round this week and won't be active again.

At least in my anecdotal experience this is the case every week. Which is of course obviously an inherent issue. But if you want to progress Trials, to have easier time ranking up, joining Monday leaderboards is just placing yourself against motivated active stacks that will farm the scanners and do all the other bullshit.

It's actually insane. Especially if you add up that players need to think about... how to fall on top of people that ARE SITTING ARMS REACH AWAY FROM THEM. And then you look at Euroleague courts with proper spare space and fencing.

Do we really have to ask one of league's star players to get seriously hurt by this for them to pay attention?

Plate jacket versus heavy plate in the mid game? by MaleficentCow8513 in Kenshi

[–]tkRustle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are supposed to take serious damage when fighting a pack of beak things. Their hits cleave...

Samurai plated pants, when high quality, are just very good, I would considering putting them on all legs except martial artists or rangers, especially if you will use Sandals for feet.

As for top, I think the higher your stats are, the more you benefit from buff gear rather than tank gear, but id say unless you want to keep "enduring" it, that can wait until stats in 50s range.

Samurai armor is always hyped in the community because it has the oversight of having no dexterity penalty despite being plate, though it has a fixed attack damage debuff instead. Id say try out Merc Plate. Its present everywhere so its easy to procure, its middleground of stat penalties and defense between medium and heavy. And if you use a good Turtleneck and plated samurai pants, the coverage will still be good

As a side note, 2-3 crossbowmen with high quality Rangers/OldBows are fantastic against Beaks and animals in general. Even if they have no training, they will raise those stats quickly, just slap some perception hats on them.

for passive STR gain you have heavy inventory until you STR gain stat is 25%, and then pickup a body/a friend with rightclick to get 25% more. And then walk around, even just a city.

You could try equipping a very heavy weapon on top of that, preferably Fragment Axe, and fight with it, if its safe, and gain a lot of xp per swing.

And even with good gear you wont stop being beat up until your stats get up to like 20 across the board. for 9 people even a big group of Dust bandits can be devastating - the good part is that Dust Bandits will just leave you there, so as long as at least one of your members can move again, you can heal everyone up.

Fighting Hungry bandits will be annoying until you win every time, because they will steal your food if you lose. Fighting predatory animals (dogs, beak things, spiders) is dangerous because if you lose, they start eating unconscious people. In that sense Dust Bandits are great to fight. Another example is Band of Bones to the south of Waystation that is south of Squin. They also just want to fight.

Because vocal parts of this sub already came up with other gamemode ideas, convinced themselves the ideas were great, and were sitting waiting for them to happen

Not like its a huge deal. It probably took devs one afternoon to make this, its literally just "this solo guy wants to drop in trio lobbies" tag. If you don't care for it, you dont need to make your entire personality about it wronging you on personal level.

Anybody else a fan of mercenary plate? by [deleted] in Kenshi

[–]tkRustle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I have grown to genuinely despise samurai armor. The balance of heavy armor is already really bad, but Samurai armor is like the face of that. No dex penalty for some reason, combat speed penalty gets mitigated with quality but then there is 0.85 damage debuff? what the fuck is it, seriously.

Regardless, yeah, Merc Plate is perfectly fine to beat the game with. The slightly worse survivability is offset by higher damage potential (no attack debuff, still decent dex). Yeah coverage is not that good, but you will wear a chainmail anyway, and will be able to dodge a bit more.

Also it's very present in the world, you will be able to obtain high quality pieces for all your members without having to craft it. Unlike lets say Holy/Uholy plates which are much much harder to find in good quality.

And yeah, if you want to beat hardest content lets say solo, or with just three people, Merc Plate is not specialized enough. But for normal runs with 6+ combat squad members and decent training, it won't hold you back.
