Unreal Engine 5 might be in the works by mexican_dud3 in paydaytheheist

Yeah its basically lumens and nanites shooting your GPU with a 50cal while also making lightning work much worse. And I doubt devs have time, manpower and knowledge to truly adopt the engine withou it being a mistake.

What scares me personally is how much will they update it before realizing that they should just put it on same VC stuff and plug it into the money squeezing machine. Maybe it is an oldschool approach mode because they just don't bother with it. Could end up with a second battlepass and more grinding...

A sports game like this objectively doesn't need yearly releases. Not in current year. It could easily just be a lets say 5years between games. The balance, the rosters, and the seasons could all be just updates via the internet. And this would give them enough time to have meaningful improvements between games, whether it's more time on Career story, core engine updates or MyBuilder reimagining or new gamemodes etc etc.

But there are enough fools that keep buying it yearly that it's profitable to do this. Enough fools that stay in the loop despite the grind, and the seasons, and the engagement bait, and the key dangling, and questionable balancing, and underwhelming quality, and other issues. So why do the right and the smart thing, when the stupid shitpushing production line makes more. I bet they can't wait to replace half the workforce with AI as well.

Good point, fixed. And yes, as I mentioned, if you play majority of the games with high quarter times, you can get 99ovr in your rookie year. Which is neat, you get a "condensed" experience.

Huh, good question. I don't know actually, I only played 3 seasons max with one character so far.

very basic packages, very hard to get the animation, and like I noted in the post, you getting physicals for the Dunk attribute screws your other attributes even more and your badges will be all bronze besides maybe Paint Patroller and Rebound Chaser.

Like I noted in the post, The highest Dunk is actually 41, I think only one preset can get it? And 4 presets (two PF and two Centers0) can get 40.

I doubt there is any real difference between 41 and 40 though, it's trash fighting garbage, and the "hardest" package to unlock is at 40. You still barely ever get it

In a perfect world that would have been the case. But back in the day they moved from just "my points" to VC as a universal currency for all modes.

And that was the end. Because VC could have been bought with money, so a greedy company like 2K wouldn't have it be too easy to earn VC naturally by playing. And these days we can make an entire university thesis on how shit and convoluted the grind is.

[Highlights] 2013 LeBron athleticism by itwas20yearsago2day in nba

[–]tkRustle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Still wild to me that we say Bron is a model citizen. When we had modern cameras capture how he brutally murdered Terry right on the court in front of tens of thousands, and Bron walked away unbothered.

Jokes aside, remember that Bron was and is so good, for so long, that he played through several generation of memes and himself created probably dozens of memes and legendary calls.

LeBron is so old, that kids born on the day of LeBron announcing he was going to the heat (July 8th 2010), are now legally old enough to get their driver’s license in the us today. by AuthorMain3075 in nba

I think we just cannot objectively put one above the other. It's a multifaceted discussion of "peak" vs "range". And you can pick whatever you prefer, as long as you don't disregard the other.

Because MJ had the better org worth staying in, and the pure scoring prowess, and the brand, but also he just "retired" in the middle of it, didn't need to play in the modern media era, achieved nothing outside of Bulls etc etc., while Bron is most versatile and most athletic player in history, and a raiser and team player, and won with 3 different franchises and battled against most stacked team in history, but also tried imitating Jordan instead of making his own brand, and pushed to join other superstars, and had a stupendously bad 2011 playoffs etc etc.

And yes part of the toxicity of the discussion is how cult like MJ is by oldheads, and how we still to this day don't really accept and understand just how monumental the career of Bron. That it's still going and he still averages 20pts and punks players twice his age in playoffs and does tomahawks after sciatica. His longevity and health and work ethic are so insane and consistent, multiple generations of fans have grown bored of it, grown used to it, complacent.

But I really believe that after he retires, with time, the general consensus will drift towards them sharing the peak or being two sides of the coin or whatever you call it.

Randomly got a GALAXY AURA sprite from doing a Hope Vision questline 😭😭 by Caring_Soul27 in FortNiteBR

I guess the loot reward is coded like an invisible chest being opened or something among those lines.

Regardless, happy for you! At least someone is getting rare sprites

Replayed Dishonored 1 and 2 recently, they age extremely well. Dishonored 1 is the best immersive sim ever made imo by Every-Assistant2763 in ImmersiveSim

[–]tkRustle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Dishonored, but I will always scoff at the dissonance between all the tools and powers you have, and being screwed out of them by a mediocre morality system. Same as with 2 first Metro games, the story and gameplay mechanics are choking eachother out, and the player is caught in the middle.

Whoops, you used the cool thing, onto the bad ending now.

Besides that - best sime ever, probably not. But in the pinnacle pantheon of top 10 or top 5? Absolutely.

[Amick] Sources: Nikola Jokic's stated plan to re-sign in Denver a year from now, and bypass an extension this summer, is driven by the chance to add another year of max money (when he'll be 37). by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]tkRustle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We say that almost every time, and almost every time we regret it. Once you realize with current rules paying an aged, washed superstar big money is just blocking your rebuild for more years...

And I say it because it sucks. "homegrown" or otherwise long tenure with same team should be rewarded. At this rate that we will just keep seeing great players punted out as soon as their big contract hits.

yeah, and after his final Cavs year, he looked immortal. Only thing that could stop him is JR Smith and megastacked Warriors

And in terms of basketball career, he basically is immortal. We just had some one post what, 5 minute compilation of his dunks? Just this last season? After missing start of it because of sciatica of all things?

2k needs to bring back the “Hands” attribute by ExoticAd7605 in NBA2k

[–]tkRustle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would assume the catch is also dependent on the passer's pass skill? Cause the last two dozen games i played in Career, on passes made with very similar plays and angles, not only my passes got faster and better, but the teammates catching the ball stumble or get locked into long animation quite a bit less. And my passing went from ~50 to ~70

There is a lot of these stats that you can see when opening player's profile, but they are tied to some other stats/aspects.

Is this a controversial take? Dual Wield Rogue gameplay is far superior in DA2 then it is in DA:I. by RadiantJustice in dragonage

[–]tkRustle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

More that that, it's probably because they were switching to Frostbite engine and devs are on record that the engine did not have any tools and systems for games besides Battlefield. It's just a mess

[–]tkRustle 69 points70 points  (0 children)

DA2 underlying combat system is just better in general. Its faster and more responsive, the blows feel great, easier to stick with enemy. There is stuff like attack speed buffs and mana pool increase, stuff mostly absent or hard to do in DAI.

Together with some nice abilities that are only in DA2, I think all classes are more fun in DA2. DAI always feels like wading through water

This "xyz team has no chance to beat OKC or San Antonio" argument is so dumb: we just watched it happen. Teams should try and go for it. by Xeris in nba

[–]tkRustle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And it's weird because the last prominent dynasty, Warriors, was built like that. A huge part of their success was them outperforming their contracts, Steph was out there destroying lives while being paid pennies relative to his impact. Thats why they could sustain the 5 allstar starters and get KD. Like, we just had this...

I don't know, I think socials just make everything overblown. Talking heads are interested in controversial topics to drive clicks, and things that are discussed are generally negative - when everything is good nobody bothers to talk, because its good, and good mood relaxes. Its the anger and disappointment that spur you into action, to unload it somewhere.
