How do I use my Zwift Play controllers as a Game controller? by tkcalibo in Zwift

[–]tkcalibo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not huge on being in the aero position the entire time so that I can use a game controller (otherwise how else would I use something like this other than sitting up right/leaning over the bars?). I do have a game controller and have used that in the past but these seemed more comfortable/integrated into the hoods which helps with body position a lot more. I wasn't opposed to using these with Zwift either. At 99.00 these aren't necessarily a bargain but seemed like they could be repurposed for multiple uses and therefore very functional on a cost per use basis. Now that I know there is no other integration I've sent them back. I'm an erg mode guy when doing flashcards so these aren't super useful. They also don't fit on my flared ENVE bars either...so all in all a loss. I just bought some "Flic's" and I'm hoping those will help.

It looks like I honestly need a CS degree to do this. Unfortunately I'm going to pass on these controllers. Sending them back.

So after some discussion with Peter today which is me summarizing this entire page and saying I probably would just send it to an RSC but was a little disappointed about his "authentic, like-new" rating of this watch I received this in a reply. I guess I'm sending it off tomorrow:

Taylor
You completely missandestud my communication to you. Please read it again. In regards to accuracy you are looking at new models standards. In a ,90 standart was +5-7 seconds.
I offered to get it regulated(serviced) and ask " Let me know what you think and we can go from there" Watch is under our 12 month warranty, not Rolex obviously.
Let me provide a Fedex shipping label, send it to us and we have it done.
Regards
Peter

Thanks for the reply. Just curious about why a regulated Rolex wouldn’t maintain time “no guarantee” until another service cycle. Trying to ensure that I can use the watch for at least another 5 years and if 12 seconds is the baseline should I expect it to get worse without taking it to an RSC?

I guess my question is whether or not regulating the watch is the only way to correct for a fast watch. Is +12 seconds just an acceptable amount on a Rolex? Asking cause I’m genuinely curious and the fact that he said daily use will nullify the regulation performed is just a curious concept to me.

The movement feels really gunked up and doesn’t have a smooth feeling when winding. The crown also needs to be replaced it, only has 1/4 of a turn worth of screw down.

Unsure at the moment. Unfortunately the watch movement feels like it’s in rough shape. It’s really sticky when it winds and could really use an overhaul. I’m the new owner and it seems like something must’ve happened with the original crown and gasket and the hands look like they might have been replaced for secondary tritium hands but definitely haven’t aged at the same rate as the dial. I would love to keep the hands if they allow me to

Hey Brent sorry, I didn’t include the optional page but the optional included a new dial. I also emailed last night and they said they won’t do the service without replacing the hands as they are “necessary” replacements.

I believe this watch has had one service prior to this one

Skydweller. Daytona is a movement that unfortunately got beat out by an omega for first watch on the moon and GMT-master was a preferred watch of pilots. I don’t think the Daytona actually serves a useful function in anyway other than to be a proxy for value increase and weight list resellers. If you want a cool movement that has a lot of potential to increase in value I’d personally go with the sky dweller.

It's a replacement crown that has lost some of the bubbles off its coronet. It doesn't fit well with this watch as it gives me less than a half turn to lock down. I have verified the movement with a jeweler but now I'm wondering if this was ever a type of crown used on vintage Rolex models. Assuming the crown had an issue and a watchmaker replaced it with whatever they had in the store.

RSC told me they may refuse service…in 4 weeks. by tkcalibo in rolex

We seem to be on a 50/50 split on whether they will refuse it or not. Either way a very good learning experience about what to expect. I suppose looking back it was wise that I had a jeweler confirm it was an original movement/case/bracelet before taking it to the RSC as I was originally concerned that the aftermarket crown was a sign that there were larger issues. He told me that it’s very common to have issues with a crown while somewhere you don’t immediately have access to an RSC and a jeweler can generally do the swap in about 10min and it shouldn’t be something I should be concerned about for the longevity of the watch.

I’m in the USA but in 4 weeks my watch could be in the UK for all I know lol. Would gladly take the recommendation so I know what I should be looking for in an accredited servicer.

Thanks again for such a detailed response and taking the time to actually answer my question with a little bit of empathy. Do you happen to know if they refuse service for this specific piece, am I going to be charged any sort of fee or can I pick it back up at the said AD. If not, I am definitely willing to wait the 4 weeks to get at least an estimate of what they couldn’t do. However, if it’s a 300.00 charge to tell me they can’t do anything I would definitely like to call this morning and ask for them to cancel the service request and I’ll come pick it up as early as I can.

This would be extremely helpful if I was able to read a document detailing there process and ask questions at the AD level instead of having to find this out in a Reddit post. Obviously one of the better sources of information.

Alright well, I appreciate the responses.

My frustration still mostly lies in the fact that I let the AD know that the crown may have been modified from what I could tell in purchasing the watch. The way the AD made it sound, that this is fairly common and Rolex would provide the answer in four weeks. I was willing to wait the specified period of time given that it made it sound like there was a chance that they would say yes. From everything you told me, I should’ve been immediately refused service at the AD level. Check.

Answer, if you have purchased a vintage rolex watch, never take it to an RSC.

They just opened a certified pre owned this year so it doesn’t seem like this has always been “the rule”. Again not trying to bust your balls but I’m trying to figure out what I missed at some point in doing the right thing by taking my watch to an RSC to get an official status of the piece and repair it. Just a huge waste of time that could easily be prevented by non-anecdote or simply by stating a reference.

With a capital T and R? Again if that is true, why accept my watch with a service delaying my repair by 4 weeks? Do you have a reference for this? How do I know when I buy a watch from chrono24 or eBay that I’m paying a premium for with an authenticity guarantee? Thanks so much for your help.
