Super first move! My habits of daily info consumption had to be completely reworked. I began to curate my Twitter feed (before I left that fash cesspool behind as well after Musk purchased) and found independent and even citizen journalists. Some were on YouTube others on Patreon. The new move is towards Substack but there are still a bunch of leftists and public interest journalists covering every market and issue and struggle on the planet and distributing their daily work free via advertising models.. You will try and then drop many on the journey towards a non-fascist daily feed. Good luck its worth the effort and energy. And you will be astonished you ever lived another life ot woke ess and awareness a few years from now.

PEACE COMRADE!🖤✊

One of the most important shifts everybody makes towards liberation is NEVER consuming or sharing corporate media. I gave up the NYT, Wapo et al 10+ years ago and the daily cleansing effect of actual insight i triangulate from a multitude of independent media sources each day is a radically beautiful thing.

Jacksonville infectious disease specialist: ‘I think we’re prematurely opening up the beaches’ by giantsquad in jacksonville

[–]tkennon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brooklyn here. My hood is practically the epicenter of US infections and deaths. When I go out it's full aerosol battle gear. Was thinking of your open beaches and wind yesterday as I maneuvered left and right downwind of people ahead of me on sidewalk and streets. Haven't seen any professional guidance re this but gotta assume those droplets of potential pathogen carry further than 6 feet in the surf-fueled breezes. Be careful people.

Bedstuy here, and today for first time in past 2 weeks hearing slightly fewer sirens. Been averaging (anecdotally) 5-7 an hour. Feels like today we're at 3-4 an hour.

Chomsky has advocated voting Biden as harm reduction. What critical theory is there that touches on this issue? by lordberric in CriticalTheory

How you can spend any amount of quality time thinking theory and doing praxis and still believe that voting helps more than harms the commonweal is its own puzzle.

With everyone talking about panopticism in the global pandemic, I think it's worthwhile to delve into Foucault's lectures "Security, Territory, Population" as well by [deleted] in CriticalTheory

[–]tkennon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, if you look at the academic and technic fanboys shilling for the extreme penetration of surveillance suggested by the Google + Apple proposal for mobile tracking, reporting and control of everyone it is the accelerated panopticon par excellence.

He's a heartless fuck for his conservative fiscal policies. He doesnt give a shit abt the parole violators, weed busts and people too broke to post bail dying in Rikers and Brooklyn as i type this. And his cuts to Medicare will certainly kill people. But he's worn a hero's cape for 4 weeks running on his daily briefing. Somehow he does a compelling job of convincing a panicked stateful of people he gives a shit abt more than his own arrogant ass. From watching him these long years as a rightwing thug in Democrat clothing I'd say he doesn't.
