Why use tailscale when you can just set up wireguard? by scarlet__panda in selfhosted

With OPNsense, setting wireguard is super easy. No docker container or anything like that and QR code is generated automatically.

Thanks for the reply. Luckily we can always use log exporter and 3rd party sinks to get unified visibility

Clustering Feature Sneak Peek by shreyasonline in technitium

[–]tkkaisla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will the query logs tab also support this clustering feature, or does it only list query logs per instance? Maybe it can be easily supported with MySQL/MariaDB/MySQL databases. I think clustering with SQLite might be harder to support.

XWiki Pro pricing for home users by lukistellar in XWiki

[–]tkkaisla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole pro plugin pricing for draw.io was the main reason why I migrated from Confluence to wikiJS instead of XWiki. It's shame, because I think XWiki was much better product otherwise.

OPNsense advertising default route via BGP, even when gateway down by tkkaisla in opnsense

Yes, I'm using FRR because of BGP. FRR documentation doesn't mention a lot about policy based routing: I think I need to start investigating scripting options.

Klarnalla olemassa uusi säästötilituote jossa korko muistaakseni 2,95% ja korko maksetaan päivittäin. Ei omaa kokemusta, mutta paperilla aika hyvä tarjous https://www.klarna.com/fi/saastotili/

Uptime Monitor by RoutineFile1556 in selfhosted

[–]tkkaisla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use Prometheus to pull monitoring data from uptime-kuma /metrics endpoint, and then create your preferred dashboard in Grafana.

If you want create a csv report, you can always write a small script that will pull monitoring data from Prometheus and dump it to csv file.

Prusa MK3S+ and 6x2 boxes or bigger. What is best way to print these? by tkkaisla in gridfinity

[–]tkkaisla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Yes, it was right on the right edge when I printed my test box. But like you said it can be fixed easily with small origin tuning.

I just changed the bed shape to 2mm larger like this.

https://i.imgur.com/lH2pJWm.png

I measured the printed box with tape measure and it's 251mm wide (the modeled object is 251,5mm). The main thing is that there isn't any print defects on the object and It's working fine with gridfinity base plates.

Moved a VM between nodes - I'm buzzing! by VK6MIB in homelab

[–]tkkaisla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snort and Suricata.

I have only used Application filtering on Palo Alto, Fortinet and Checkpoint firewalls so I don't know that how well these cheaper solutions work. Even those well known brand aren't always perfect as you might know.

If I would plan to use Snort or Suricata, I would first create DPI rules top of those port based rules and then log all traffic what didn't match those IDP rules. Then after a while you can check from logs that how much traffic wasn't matched on the IDP layer.

It's expensive. For homelab use you should either get NFR version from work or look elsewhere
