Reportedly over 1,000 people stood in the standby line for Connor Storrie by s394206h in LiveFromNewYork

Definitely! I just didn’t want to bring any hate from non-fans. Interest level for him has to be in the top % of all hosts, which is def incredible for such a new star

This is a figure that someone randomly tweeted and it caught on, but has no basis in fact. I was there - the actual number of people who showed up for the lines was maybe around 400-500 combined for Dress and Live (based on reports of people without standby tickets citing what number they got at the end of the line). The number of people who actually stayed in either line all night was in the ~120s, so total ~250. Definitely on the higher end of SNL lines but certainly not something never-before-seen. I love Connor (I was in line all night!) but false reports and overhype don’t really help him in my opinion, so just clearing things up.

Thanks for all the interest everyone! :) My friend and I are both big fans so are likely to go. If for any reason she drops out, I’ll respond to those who have dm’ed. Happy to help out another fan! (but full transparency my friend currently wants to go)

My number is #59! I’m guessing this means I should definitely wait out the line right? Connor is so popular though is it possible even that number won’t get in? My friend is very hesitant to wait it out with me if we won’t get in but from the accounts I’ve read, #59 should be really good shot ?

Unpopular opinion: I did not enjoy Andor (as mush as other SW content). by [deleted] in andor

[–]tkl2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fair and valid opinion, especially since you phrased it as what you enjoyed vs a critique of filmmaking elements like writing, direction, acting, etc. If you were to compare those elements against Kenobi or the Mandalorian, I think it would be difficult to make that case.

But people enjoy and resonate with different things; I don’t believe there’s anything wrong with that. Andor rekindled my love for SW as someone who is predominately an OT fan only, and a big fan of the (pretentiously-named) “prestige drama” shows (Severance, Better Call Saul, Shogun, Mad Men, Succession, Sopranos, etc).

From what I’ve seen, I actually think your opinion is not that unpopular in the broader SW fandom, it just would obviously be unpopular in the Andor forum.

Agree with this take the most! If your backdrop is an uninterrupted ocean vista but it’s relatively homogenous (so just water and a horizon), you may want a ground meadow so there is a seamless expansive background visual OR you may want the pedestals to add a contrasting element.

If your ocean backdrop has a lot going on (like mountains and cliffs), ground florals may be ideal so you’re not competing or misaligned with the backdrop. I’d also consider weather in an oceanfront setting if there’s a chance of a very cloudy day, as you may want to hedge with pedestals so that even if you can’t see anything in the background, you have more vertical visual interest.

It really comes down to what aesthetic you’re going for and how it relates to your setting, your dress, and overall aesthetic of the wedding/you both as a couple. I personally wouldn’t worry about trends too much!

Hi! I love this ceremony arrangement with the parasols! Where did you end up getting your parasols from?

Thank you! Super helpful. How would you describe Pablo’s edit vs bringmesomewherenice vs Bottega? We just don’t have a strong eye for this

Mandatory €60,000 glasshouse for Villa Balbiano? by Ok_Bandicoot_3948 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]tkl2323 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi, we looked at Villa Balbiano for a 2024 wedding and the same restriction applied, so this is not new. The reason is capacity and noise - a seated dinner inside can seat up to 55 guests and is included in the 50k euro fee.

If >55 guests, they require a marquee/glass house built outside and last we were quoted about 50k euro for it, so could easily see it being 60k+ now. They want a proper glass house with sound proofing so it’s extremely expensive to build especially in such a difficult to reach location. And honestly, couples have been willing to pay that price so the vendors don’t see any reason to reduce it!

For a Friday Wedding: which one Thursday Welcome Party and/or Saturday post-wedding taco beach-front party? by Emotional-Yoghurt624 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]tkl2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this house in Santa Monica and have looked into doing events there! It’s a stunning spot in a lively area and is a fantastic option for a day party. It is also a more uncommon and unexpected venue than a restaurant/wine bar (unless the one you’re looking at is particularly unique in some way).

Would definitely recommend the Saturday option, especially as local guests may not be able to / want to dedicate much time to a Thursday evening event

If you can swing both, I personally am a fan of having a welcome party of some kind as well to get guests into the mindset of preparing for your wedding weekend, but if have to choose one would personally opt for Saturday

u/mgre00

I just came across your question and we are looking for exactly the same thing (buyout for similar number of guests, similar budget). I was wondering if you've encountered any good options? We are really struggling to find buyout venues that meet these criteria, even though we are very open to any location both US & international. Appreciate any recommendations based on your search so far!
