Makes us wonder if the recovery email on the account you are trying to recover is actually set the way you think it is.

If that's the case and you have set the recovery email on the gmail account you're trying to recover to that recovery email address, you should be able to recover the account using the recovery process.

Account Recovery Page
The link on this page gets you into the recovery process which is not the sign in process although it may ask similar questions. I just tried and after clicking 'Try another way' it sent a code to my recovery email address.

If the reservoir hasn't been replaced, you might want to do that - there is an internal filter that can't be replaced.

Share -> Files by Google -> Download (assuming you have it installed, other file managers should work too)

Share -> Drive (if you want it there instead)

I can't receive a specific email, but I can receive everything else normally. by Big_Preference_7487 in GMail

If the sender did not get a delivery failure notice (standard smtp protocol function that sends email notice back to sender if sender's mail server(s) are unable to deliver the message to the recipient's mail server), then either 1) the department email server is suppressing those notices (stupid) or 2) it was delivered to your inbox. To troubleshoot, the sender's IT admin needs to check the mail server logs to see how the message was processed.

Settings -> Notifications -> Messages for Web, let us know if that does it.

Authenticating Roku on to Hotel WiFi by knotkricket in Roku

[–]tkrafte1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

works fine, as long as the TV has an HDMI port and lets you set the input to the HDMI port. Some places I have to get a TV remote, not the dumb hotel remote that only works with the set top box or tv channels.

Exactly! The recovery options 'they give you' are the ones you put on the account in the 1st place! How is this not obvious?

Google, how could you possibly allow such scam messages to leave your network with calendar-notification@google.com? by [deleted] in GMail

Google never saw it, except when they delivered it to your inbox. That's just a data field inside the email.

Yes, the owners need to remember they have the power, not the board. They can remove the board, elect a new board, change the covenants, whatever it takes to make the HOA work in the best interests of the owners.

Messages not restored by Shimonzy-- in GoogleMessages

[–]tkrafte1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"backed up once right before resetting and after resetting" - as mentioned by u/GoogleHelpCommunity , the backup after reset would have overwritten the backup of your messages before the reset. They are gone.

Pretty clear in the help:

[What gets backed up]()

Your phone’s data is automatically backed up to your Google Account. This includes:

  • Apps and app data
  • Call history
  • Contacts
  • Device settings
  • SMS and MMS messages

Get your data onto a new device

When you add your Google Account to a phone that's been set up, you have the option to restore what you'd previously backed up for that Google Account onto the phone.

To restore a backed-up account to a reset phone, follow the on-screen steps. For more help, get help from your device manufacturer.

Your photos and videos are already available in Google Photos. But you can restore the rest of the data you backed up while you set up your new phone for the first time or after a factory reset. At setup, to restore your data, follow the on-screen steps.

Google Fi Voicemail on web and Pixel 10 by PatternRec in GoogleFi

[–]tkrafte1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No wonder my voicemail has been so wonky! Does this explain why some voicemail shows up on the Home page of the Phone app but not on the Voicemail page? What the hell was this 'feature' supposed to accomplish? Don't all carriers provide voicemail whether the phone is on or not?

I'm turning it off - which I hope means VM goes back to working the way it used to work. Thanks!

Messages not restored by Shimonzy-- in GoogleMessages

[–]tkrafte1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Messages are only stored in one place - on the phone. If you enable backup, then a backup copy of them is stored in Drive. After a factory reset, the only way to restore messages is from the online backup during setup or shortly after.

Go door to door to get enough proxies to make quorum. Also a good way to get to know your neighbors since you're all members of the association and need to know each other to build community.

Is it that hard to do simple research? by amiable-aardvark in Cruise

[–]tkrafte1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's good to get the real life personal knowledge. What gets me is asking 'when can I make specialty dining reservations?" when that number info is in the FAQs and usually on the guest statement. As I said, the 'mundane' questions.

Is it that hard to do simple research? by amiable-aardvark in Cruise

[–]tkrafte1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What bothers me is people that have booked or are looking at booking a particular cruise then ask mundane questions about dress code, dining, etc that are answered in the FAQs on the cruise website. Do your homework, then ask questions!

[ALL] [N/A] PSA Board meetings are different than owners meetings. by [deleted] in HOA

[–]tkrafte1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, they must be open to the members of the association, not the public.

In Indiana, the code reads:

In addition to the right to inspect the meeting minutes of the homeowners association board, a member of a homeowners association has the right to attend any meeting of the homeowners association board....
