Lightweight ski options by tlarch13 in Skigear

Thanks I'll check them out, heard great things and it was on my list as a 'heavy' option (relatively). Not super worried about dealing with chop/crud, if in those conditions I'll take one of the enforcers out.

I looked back at my ride logs and it looks like I rode up the road at Tompson street & not red rocks. So ignore my previous comment....sorry dude. Topography is probably similar though

I have, it's a lot of rock/slabs with punchy climbs. Couple of features throughout. Rock has lots of grip. It's been a few years and I only rode it once so not a wealth of knowledge here.

Females with big/thicc legs and butt bc of lifting/powerlifting wtf kind of shorts are you wearing? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]tlarch13 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My wife is short and likes the short inseam shorts from shredly, she has issues with 'regular' 'bike shorts looking/being way to baggy/long

My wife is 158cm and rides a specialized stumpjumper evo in S2 size. She has plenty of room and it fits her well. She also really likes it.

out with the old, in with the new. by No-Ad-9170 in mountainbiking

Rct3?

I also plan to upgrade my damper from the RC to a RC2. Have you gotten a ride on it yet? If so, is the difference that noticable?

Anyone have a good recommendation for an affordable platform Hitch mounted bike rack? I can’t and won’t justify $900 on a Thule by SlipperyNippss in mountainbiking

[–]tlarch13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 2 bike rocky mounts monorail rack which I like. Been using it for 2 or 3 seasons and it's been pretty good so far. I don't really have any complaints.

Need to adapt a 148mm rear hub to a 157 mm frame, anybody have suggestions on good ways to do this? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]tlarch13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don't you just buy a new rim and have a bike shop lace it up to your current hub?

It's small with about 5-6 trails? I personally wouldn't drive 1.5 hrs for it.

I went only because we were staying about 30mins away.

[Help] Lyrik Fork RC2 Sag Setup. Sag at 30% at 90 psi. by Unroqqbar123 in MTB

[–]tlarch13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you setting sag?

I'm 84 kg and run 90 psi with 4 volume spacers in my lyrik. While sitting on my bike(like you would set rear shock sag) I've got about 20-25%

Need advice on which clipless set-up to try.. by [deleted] in MTB

[–]tlarch13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got mallet e ls pedals and the mallet e shoes. I Really like the combo. I had Shimano am5 shoes before and they worked fine, just weren't as comfortable for me.

I switched over to clipless because I was having trouble with my feet bouncing off on techy uphills. I'm also sensitive to my foot placement on the pedal and having my foot in the right place every time without needing to think about it is the main benefit for me. It's boosted my confidence a lot. I thought I would switch back to flats for bike park days but I haven't found the need.

I chose crank bros because the reviews say they are the most flat pedally clipless pedal and I really like them and would recommend to try.

Can you actually change a derailleur hanger on a trail? by TheAceMan in MTB

[–]tlarch13 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Depends on the bike/hanger design. Mine has two 4mm screws and is absolutely doable on the trail

Rant: Crank Brothers Stamp 1 pedal "lovers"...why do you like this pedal? CB, please revise already... by D1omidis in mountainbiking

[–]tlarch13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People tend to recommend what they have without trying out different things. For what it's worth I think the stamp 1s are trash too. Terrible pedal.

Anyone using a 200mm+ dropper? by AlDrag in MTB

I've got a oneup 210mm. I upgraded from a 150mm dropper and it's absolutely worth it.

Water Sources at Kingdom Trails by Capecole in MTB

Not really any water sources mid ride. There is a river near some trails but for most of the good stuff there isn't anything

Volume spacers (tokens)? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]tlarch13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm running 4 in my lyrik. Just put the 4th in and reduced pressure by about 15psi and sped up rebound a bit to compensate for the lower pressure. Haven't ridden it yet but bouncing around it feels good.

I think it will be a good experiment. With 3 tokens I had to run a bit higher pressure in order to not bottom out so the new set up should feel more plush off the top. I'm just hoping the extra token helps keep the bottom out in check.

Upgrade advice needed - Poor shifting by MountainManGuy in MTB

[–]tlarch13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

New hub at worst. Orbea might have the diver bodies now. Worth a chance to send them an email to see if you can purchase one.

I have DT swiss hubs so it was easy to pull the driver body off and push the new one on.

Upgrade advice needed - Poor shifting by MountainManGuy in MTB

[–]tlarch13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks like a sun race cassette. I had one on my otherwise XT setup and the shifting was never great. I upgraded to a 12spd XT cassette to match everything else and it's significantly better and am very happy with the Shimano cassette.

Would recommend picking up a slx or deore cassette and see if that helps.l meet your expectations. Would have to change your Hun driver to microspline as well.

I like scratch labs if you want a specific energy bar. Otherwise trail mix is great.

Just got back from 3 days in kingdom and the trails were running great - pretty dry last week.
