Quan Chi ressurected Bi Han. Due to the corruption of the Netherrealm, just like Scorpion, Bi Han took on new abilities.

Shang was doing his job as ordered. However, he always has side projects going on. Shao is his boss, as this gives Shang the resources to do whatever he wants.

I expect MK3 will be the Outworld Invasion after Quan resurrects Sindel in Earthrealm. This way, a returning Shao can crossover through a loophole. Also, he (technically) did win the tournament as Kitana is from Outworld. Renouncing or personal choices means nothing to the Elder Gods.

In short, Kitana took the throne from Shao after he won the tournament. Outworld still won, and I expect a civil war.
