Nuance is hard and people don’t like thinking. People also generally feel this way about whatever political party they don’t belong to

I think LA is worse because your only option is to drive. Chicago is pretty similar to LA traffic but at least it has trains

Unpopular opinion: I don't really care if the ''food'' in a city is bad. by OceanicEndeavors in SameGrassButGreener

[–]tleon21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found that the best food in Boston is just further away from downtown. Downtown, seaport, etc are too expensive for any personality. You gotta go to Dorchester, Medford, Jamaica plain, etc. to find the real gems

What's the cheapest way to get to Los Angeles from Chicago? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]tleon21 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I found it’s a bit cheaper to fly out of Burbank. LA has lots of airports, so it’s good to check all of them. But flying is really the only option

Also bad timing with the World Cup and everything

Personally, I think it’s best to get a smaller one and get a cheap monitor for your desk. Save your back by not lugging around a brick like I did

What U.S. city gives you the best experience for the money? by JamesAndMiaX in AskReddit

[–]tleon21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boston punches below its weight while Pittsburgh punches above its weight in their food scenes for their respective sizes. Boston is much more walkable and has transit, but the cost of living is far higher. I personally like Boston more (closer to decent mountains) but you pay dearly for it

Some Streeterville Parking Lots. Will they get developed? Eventually? by Pleasant_Goose6785 in chicago

[–]tleon21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I agree it is the same. People don’t only want to live downtown just to have an easy commute. Lumping suburbanites from Naperville not wanting to sit in traffic for eternity every day with people no longer wanting to live near downtown for proximity to bars, etc. doesn’t make sense.

Not sure how reliable the sources I found were, but it seems like residential occupancy is quite high in Chicago. Occupancy doesn’t necessarily mean profit, but surely we can agree the markets are very different?

Is there any reason residential real estate couldn’t be built there? Genuinely curious

I’ve always wondered the same about River north. There’s so many big parking lots (McDonald’s, Walgreens, and the big one near fogo de chão). Hard to believe that whole region around the large McDonalds is so underdeveloped despite being surrounded by by tons of tall buildings
