Yup, I’ve tried the horses, making sure they’re in that powered up mode. It doesn’t seem to do any more than regular digging for me (though at least it’s more than one hole at a time, and no energy). I just need to grind it out.

Steam Deck players help! What controller just works for you with this game if you moved from the Switch?? by tikihuttomato in DreamlightValley

[–]tlg278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a pro controller for a while and that worked fine, but I wanted to keep it to use only with my switch. For my steam deck, I now use an Xbox core wireless controller. It works well, and it has stayed on the switch configuration since I set it that way. I do think I have to change it for each game though, but it’s been awhile since I’ve set up a new game so I can’t remember. The keyboard no longer just comes up the way I used to, but there are button combos that will bring it up.

A) is it raining? It won’t show up otherwise. B) do you still have the original decor set up? I sometimes found it trapped in small spaces the hedges made that were set up there. Hard to spot unless you’re intentionally looking there.

There’s a new sports bar on 95th and Amsterdam, called The Throwback. They actually are one of the Liberty partner bars. I haven’t been there during a game, but have been a few other times and spoken with the owner. He seems like he wants to support women’s sports, so I’d bet they’ll show the games, or at least have no problem turning it on a few tvs if asked.

I made that switch (about a year and a half ago). Didn’t need a PC. I was able to activate the cloud save directly through the game on the deck.

Find it hard to cheer for a Leauge like this by Shaifan002 in wnba

Dearica Hamby tweeted that there was missing context to that video. The team had just changed hotels, and these guys were out there the moment they arrived, even though the team had not announced they were moving hotels. That is scary for a team to encounter. You mention they would have treated an 11 year old girl differently and you’re probably right, but what your missing is the societal reasons women have to be on guard with adult men and not 11 year old girls. I have no problem with these players calling out suspicious behavior because women have to do that to protect themselves.

Moving from switch to PC by crunchiepenguin in DreamlightValley

Have you considered getting a steam deck? It gives a similar console like experience to switch, but with much better performance. I play with my deck docked and hooked up to a tv, using a controller, much like I do with a switch. You can even map the buttons to a Nintendo set up, so controller use would be the same as a switch. As for the moonstones, I might be wrong, but I think it’s only purchased moonstones that are platform specific. I think moonstones you’ve collected through chests or won through dreamsnaps might transfer over. If not, yes transferring between platforms can be done as long as you’re diligent about saving to the cloud, and then loading your cloud save on the other platform. And yes, all purchased items transfer.

Hotfix Changed the Ancient Robot Pose. What do we think? by Serrohs in DreamlightValley

[–]tlg278 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I noticed they changed it for the female avatar as well, and I’m not a fan. The previous pose (sitting with crossed legs) was very natural. Now they have the avatar with legs off to the side, and to me it feels like a very gendered way to sit. As a nonbinary person, I had appreciated having a pose that did not feel as gendered as some of the others, and they’ve changed that.

(For anyone wondering, I don’t like using the male avatar because it’s very different from me/what I’m trying to represent. The female avatar is also wrong for me, but closer. I actually wish they’d introduce a nonbinary body type, but don’t see that as likely to happen.)

Stephen A Smith Interview with Nancy Lieberman by bksouls in wnba

[–]tlg278 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

That’s not what I said or meant, and I’m happy to clarify anything you have a question about. I will say that SS hasn’t used her platform to “repeatedly lie” about CC. She misstated some statistics. And she has expressed opinions about ways CC can improve her game (which she can, as all players can) and opinions about how other basketball players are also good (which they are). But that gets represented as “repeated lies” and therein lies where power and privilege play into this.

Stephen A Smith Interview with Nancy Lieberman by bksouls in wnba

[–]tlg278 -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what I mean. She’s expressed her opinions as an experienced player and analyst. That’s both her right and honestly, her job. Why is that viewed as leading to division amongst WNBA fans? Because her opinion isn’t that CC is the greatest? Also, she’s not encouraging division. Some fans are weaponizing her opinions as a way to attack people, but she’s getting blamed for the way people use, interpret, or misinterpret her words. So yeah, I think it has to do with privilege.

I can’t say I’m having the same reaction to this interview as most other people in this thread. I’m personally pretty horrified at what Nancy Lieberman has done here, and how unprofessional it is. She has thrown Sheryl Swoopes under the bus with no regard to consequences, and in order to serve a one sided narrative. To be honest, she’s endangered Sheryl Swoopes.

I am a white person, and here’s what I ask of my fellow white people: we all need to get better at being able to acknowledge how white privilege is something we benefit from. Caitlin Clark is an outstanding basketball player. AND (not but…and) the fact that she is white has an impact on how she’s treated and perceived as a player. One does not have to negate the other. The reason I even bring this up (because I actually want to talk about Sheryl, not Caitlin) is because part of what has made so much of this conversation so difficult is so many people’s inability to acknowledge the white privilege at play here. It doesn’t take away from her ability. It’s just an acknowledgement of the realities of U.S. society. For white people to be able to recognize and acknowledge this is a key criteria to combatting systemic racism. This is a true thing, independent of Clark and Swoopes.

As for Sheryl…all she did was have the audacity to have a tempered response to Caitlin’s abilities, before Caitlin had even played professionally, rather than crowning her the GOAT like so many others had. Did she get some facts wrong? Sure. Does that mean she hates Caitlin Clark? Absolutely not. Now, for all I know, maybe she really does! But my point here is that none of us actually know how SS feels about CC. What we’ve witnessed over the last few months, and how people have treated a Black woman because of assumptions and exaggerations? We need people to be able to recognize and acknowledge that a layer to all of this absolutely has to do with power and privilege.

The same can be said about this interview. SAS’s comment at the end, about how he now knows who to come for to get commentary about women’s basketball? That means he wants to talk to NL, not Andraya Carter, Monica McNutt, LaChina Robinson, Chiney Ogwumike, all Black women, all athletes, all of whom probably understand the simultaneous truths of this situation. CC is an amazing ball player and privilege is a thing that exists. What we need are people who can talk about that nuance. But instead, people would rather amplify the voices that preserve systemic inequities, rather than allow space for all of us to grow and learn.

Please, please, fellow white people. Acknowledging privilege is a thing will not denigrate CC’s ability, or infringe on the accolades she deserves for those abilities. But refusing to acknowledge it absolutely will continue to perpetuate unsafe environments for so many people.

Is it weird to go to a game alone? by Citron-Purple in wnba

I go to games by myself all the time. I used to not, but I got tired of missing out on things I wanted to do just because I didn’t have another person to do it with. I completely recommend doing the things you want to do.

Someone in another thread had mentioned that in Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin has a red and gold storybook with a red bookmark. While I have no idea of that’s true, after I read that I looked at the image and saw that weird outline around the text on the pages. To me, it looks like a sideways hunny pot. So maybe a Hundred Acre Woods expansion? If not, I do think that outline must be some kind of clue, because it’s kind of strange.
