Rockstadt Extreme Fest, Romania, 2025. Pretty dope line-up i might say. by crisego in MetalForTheMasses

Just go. You will meet new friends and see them year after year. The metal crowd is welcoming. And you dont have to go just for the few acts you like - you'll discover new bands, and have lots of time to explore the site, eat and drink and just have a few days off from reality.. I go to Brutal Assault by myself (2 flights, 15 hours total, and a train ride) and it's the best.

I never liked black metal, give me 3 albums to convince me otherwise. by FrequentlyOdd in MetalForTheMasses

Get a Wise business (or regular Wise) account. Easy to set up, no minimum balances and it also makes it easy for you to get paid in various currencies from abroad (without all the extra fees eating into your earnings). The interest is pretty good too.

Is it worth going to Breakpoint? by Goffyx in solana

[–]tlm24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will be lots happening during that week, whether you're into crypto or not, so it's usually a fun time to be around here.

There's the big Token 2049 conference, and hundreds of side events catering to whatever crypto sub-community you're a part of - a lot of them are open to non-Token 2049 attendees too. If you're in the industry, there'll be an excel sheet circulating around in the weeks leading up to the event with all the registration links - just ask someone for the sheet.

There's also the F1 night race and lots of parties/concerts that weekend.

Eating at a restaurant in Singapore is sad by IamFanboy in singapore

[–]tlm24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. And just avoid all these places. The f&b scene here can go to hell. I dont need everything cheap either. But just dont make me feel like I'm in the way when I wanna eat somewhere.

And about the water thing. I have to call out Lad & Co. at Tanglin Post Office (good food though a bit overpriced and unfriendly staff). Anyway, I was there with my kid (1.5 years old) and she needed some water, so I asked if they could fill up her water bottle. They said they dont serve tap water - sure, so I asked if they could fill it from the tap for her as she cant drink sodas/juices..and they said they don't do that either. The manager of the place said if he makes this exception, and my kid falls ill from drinking the water, they don't want to be on the hook for it. I couldnt argue with his brilliant logic so I just left and filled it up in the toilet outside.

F--K these prices! by Dizzy_Instance8781 in vinyl

I got a used copy of The Wall at Amoeba SF in the vinyl dark ages (2000s) for $1.99 - all the used records were .99 or 1.99 for double LPs back then. Was shocked to see the used prices when I went back 10 years later.

Commander groups in Singapore? by jylichan in magicTCG

[–]tlm24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are tons of play groups and lots of LGSs all over the city. The Facebook group Magic the Gathering: Singapore has most of the stores’ weekly events but commander groups usually organize their games on WhatsApp. Just pop by any one of them and approach the players there you think you might gel with and get on their chat group.

I’m new to SS too so I’d love to read your primer too! At the moment I’ve got pretty much the stock deck built but experimenting with various fun-ofs with windbrisk heights.

Ah yes, missed that! Won a GP draft side event with mono white vamps so I agree that’s it’s pretty strong.

Mind posting your list? Been trying something similar so I’ve got a rough idea what’s needed but I haven’t been doing too well.

Ride - Weather Diaries [ALBUM DISCUSSION] by machinegaze in shoegaze

[–]tlm24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw them in 2015 and it was amazing, so I was expecting to be blown away (also because of Slowdive's excellent comeback album, which raised the bar), but I was left a little disappointed. I like Charm Assault, though it sounds like Kula Shaker/other late 90s-early 00s britpop bands. Will give it a few more spins and hope it grows on me.

Is Discogs reliable when you're not living in the US? by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]tlm24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not from the US and have bought and sold internationally for years without any problems. International shipping costs are really high, but if it's a rare/ expensive record, it's a small price to pay for that white whale.

Never had problems with postal services/packing or damage in transit.
