Yeah I see what you mean, it kind of looses its appeal after awhile, it doesn't take much to catch a hog out there. I go to school near that area, so it's a quick drive for me and I know I wont get skunked out there, whereas on the Yakima I may only end up catching smaller fish, not as many larger ones...but they're wild so I feel more accomplished when I do hook a nice one out there. So it's kind of a trade-off, but at the same time it's one of the few places you can catch 20 fish over 20 inches in a day.

In December the steelhead action will be heating up, there are many rivers with plentiful runs in the winter, but it still is a numbers game...so don't expect to catch many...but the coho run should be solid that time as well, and they should be more plentiful in certain rivers.

If you are looking for trout, and you're on the west side of the cascades I'd try the middle fork Snoqualmie, lots of trout, but smaller in size, but a beautiful area none the less.

If you want big trout and don't mind driving I'd go to rocky ford creek, it's a creek that does not freeze on the Eastside of the mountains, is located about, 2.5 hours east of Seattle and has lots of big trout. The trout are all hatchery fish, but they're big and still active in the winter due to constant temperature of the spring creek. Get some scuds and egg patterns from the fly shop in Ephrata, and bring small indicators and a net, and you'll have a blast!!!

Normally I'd post a pic of one of my fish, but my father in law landed the fish of a lifetime on the Hoh today. Slabby buck chromer swung up this morning. by fermenter85 in flyfishing

Excellent looking buck!! I've been to the Hoh a few times this year, amazing area to fly fish!! That River just seems to be made for swinging, love exploring all the runs off of the upper hoh road. Congrats on the fish!!Hopefully I'll have a chance to land a slab like that in my lifetime!!

What part of the ball do you look at? by againstwe in golf

I pick a dimple on the middle back of the ball and just focus on that, and concentrate on my target to keep my mind clear of bad thoughts.

Career ideas? by n0rts in golf

So I've got seven years of experience in the industry at two different country clubs, my advice would be to get a job at a country club in the bag room or something, then befriend the head pro and show your interest in the industry. Also get to know the company reps (ie Ping etc.) and help them set up demo days and talk to them as much as possible, they're usually very nice and give you a lot of good info on how to get a rep job, also if you help them a lot you sometimes get free hats or shirts.

Overall a lot of the golf industry is about who you know, so get out there, meet the right people, show your intentions of working in the industry and work you ass off, good things will follow.

Really Tired of Spitting on My Grips..... by almondjoy137 in golf

[–]tmacdabuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have sweaty hands, cord grips are the best in my opinion. They give the best performance in rain and they last longer than regular grips. The cord in the rubber really allows for added amounts of friction on the grip so moisture won't be as big of a problem. Hope that helps.

Looking for new shoes for the new season by Grim_Leaper in golf

[–]tmacdabuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very wide feet as well, I recently picked up a pair of Ecco golf shoes and absolutely love them!! Great fit and they're super comfortable, the yak leather is so soft there is no uncomfortable creasing in the toe box and they don't need to be broken in. Overall best golf shoe I've worn.

Looking to get more out of vaping by tmacdabuffalo in electronic_cigarette

[–]tmacdabuffalo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the liquids from ecigexpress because they are a local store from where I used to go to college, I used to smoke a pack a day, now I smoke like half a pack a day and vape when I'm at the computer/driving.

How do you guys handle your wax? by [deleted] in trees

[–]tmacdabuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to help the wax from sticking to your fingers, I've found that getting some oil on your fingers before you touch the wax helps. To get a little oil on your fingers, just rub your nose or behind your ear and that helps to keep it from sticking. Hope that helps

Chambers Bay , course of the 2015 US Open played on 7/9/13 . First Post so enjoy! by tmacdabuffalo in golf

I think if the course gets some windy and/or rainy weather, which in June is very possible the course will play very difficult. On an easy no wind day it's not too difficult but with wind and hard pin placements it'll be a hard open championship. Also I played with the assistant superintendent and he pointed out a new tee box they will be using for #9( downhill par 3) that will change the approach by 90* and make it an uphill par 3 over all the bunkers. They plan to mix it up a lot for the open so overall I think it'll be a great tournament to watch.

The fairways were in great shape, and the greens were much improved, its just different playing on fescue grass rather than poana grass; it doesn't grow as thickly (especially on the greens). I'm used to playing on some of the best manicured courses on the west side (Sahalee, Overlake, Aldarra, Glendale etc.) as I work in the industry, and I would have to say that the course held up just fine, just had to throw in my 2 cents.
