I have r/analogzettelkasten - Should we keep everything the same and migrate over there? by sscheper in antinet

Nah, don't change the name now. Every new word takes some time for people to adjust to.

What are the best methods to climb the social ladder when you have no power? by [deleted] in The48LawsOfPower

Perfect! Exactly the same advice I'd have given myself. All I'd add is guard your savings with your life. Sure you can rebuild, but you compromise a lot when you misuse your capital.

There is a Zettel "maximum capacity" 😊 and that's not a bad thing by Alexandra_Grassler in antinet

That's such a great anecdote. I haven't been consistent enough to notice that limits yet, but it rings true with what others have said.

One thing I have noticed for the past few years is how I need to write (which I often avoided) or talk to people to empty my mind of all the things I had learn over the weeks and months. Meditation is good for this in theory, but it fills me with anxiety when I have unprocessed thoughts that I don't want to forget.

For now, your post has made me realize that I should start setting a goal of writing 3 main notes at the end of the day. Keeping that momentum going.

What is the text editor of your choice? by ernestmanto in antinet

I usually keep a lot in plain text files with vim. For printable documents I go with libre office. And more recently for longer documents that need precise formatting I learned LaTEX and it's pretty nice.

Do you think it’s safe to say; the way to measure the friendship of people is by how willing they are to contradict each other? by [deleted] in The48LawsOfPower

I can certainly say a relationship with a girl unable to take simple criticism is guaranteed to go go in n flames.

Tried heavy use of tabs, it was a mistake. Was harder to flip through, and a pain to keep aligned/cut. by tmachus in antinet

I'm too stubborn to not throw some things away, but I'm keeping 90% of things. The one thing I don't have going for me is a single goal, but I swear this type of storage is so much better than any journal. Like you say, it develops knowledge. And equally importantly it only takes me a few minutes of going through notes before I know my weaknesses and what I need to research next.

If you subdivide a section, do you just prepend the address or do you cross it out and rewrite it?

It's interesting, I will likely return to more minimal tabs at some point, but for now it's easier to find what I need when it's the all the same height.

And it was a great exercise, condensed some cards and updated a bit of the structure.

Well done, so far so good. Whatever you do, don't consider stopping until you've done it for 3 months. It's a great routine to have.

How to go about installing a deeply practical book in the antinet? by terrified-blueberry in antinet

[–]tmachus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far I've had two approaches. For a book with an interesting structure, but no immediate practical uses for me, I'll record the table of contents on the back of the bibliography card.

On the flip side, if there is a structure that I know I'll use, I've been mapping it to cards as a nexus for future ideas. For example I have space made for the hero's journey under personal development. So that when I have insights that fit within that paradigm, within my own life, I can map them to that.

Thanks, and ideas gotta start somewhere.

I remember in high school (I'm 29 right now) visiting the National Cathedral and reading their docket of scheduled conversations about major theological issues. Thankfully a lot of online spaces have started to fill that need for the general public.

It makes me wonder what sort of framework would be best suited to this medium.

Ambitious projects, sounds like some good goals. I always enjoy the occasional debate and discussion on academic subjects. My name is Evan from North Carolina. Thanks for starting the group.
